The beer poured more of an Amber than red with a small tan head and was hazy. The aroma was all hops with some piney notes. The flavor on first sip was mostly malty, caramelly with a hint of bitterness. As the beer warms the bitterness comes more apparent almost to the point where it is uncomfortable, which is the main problem I had with this beer. A decent beer, but not really my thing and I typically like hoppy beers.

12oz bottle from bottleworks in seattle. red brown pour with creamy off-white medium head. pine and caramel malt aroma. citrus hop with nutty roasted malts in the taste. good medium texture with just the right amount of tingly carbonation. light dry bitter finish. good stuff. K-8

It pours a more red color than simply an amber. The head is a thick cream color with a little pinkish tint and a lot of lacing around the glass. The smell is a lot of citrus, with a bit of the roasted malt in the background. Most of the hoppy red ales I’ve had usually hit you first with the malt, then the hops come into play. This one seems to be the opposite. The citrus hops come in, with a lot of grapefruit, and it is followed up very lightly by the malt. I’d say the malt in this red is a lot less pronounced than many in this style. It’s a good, hoppy, beer that leaves the grapefruit taste in your mouth for a while.

Bought a siz pack of 12 oz bottles, kept growing on me. Pours reddish brown, with a fluffy tan head. Lots of thick sheeting on the glass. Flavor is a roasty malt, with some molasses sweetness, tea notes, and a piney hop bitterness. I found it could get pretty bitter as it warmed up, but really enjoyable complex and balanced flavor.

Pours a dark amber with a decent size tan head. Aroma is floral and resin, some malt. Solid bitterness.

Poured from 12oz bottle a dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma was a floral/fruity hop. Flavor had a good caramel malt backbone with fruity citrus hops.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-chestnut color with a medium sized red-tan head. The aroma was flowery, fruity and resiny - definite notes of Amarillo hops. The flavor was fruity yet dry with a nutty caramel malt base and flowery and resiny hops. Definite Amarillo notes. Very nice, but then again I am a fan of Amarillo.

This is why I drink beer. Beer pours reddish with big retained off white head and lots of lacing. Big time citrus hop aroma, but there is a malt presence lurking there in the background. I could smell this beer for a long time and not tire of it. Taste is juicy, green hops with just a touch of malt sweetness. This is a much more balanced beer than their West Coast IPA which is one dimensional and bracingly bitter. I like this one better. A fabulous addition to the Texas beer scene!
