Commercial Description:
Resinous hop character and bitterness balance the rich caramel malt base. We took it a step further and Amarillo dry hopped the brew to 45 IBUs, creating refreshing and savory hop flavors and aromas. Is it Red IPA? That’s your call.

Interesting take on a red ale. Crisp malt base, caramel, with nicely balanced hops. Not too bitter, but good.

Lots of malt and hops. Caramel, citrus/pine resingy thick and slightly sticky. Like a solid west coast IPA but withthe malt instead of hops tipping the balance.

From tap at Solana Beach. Pours clear and golden amber to brown with a lacing light tan head. Aroma is mild caramel malty with a light hops note on top. Flavour is classic dense hops fruity flavoured and with a thick caramel malt base. Nicely balanced.

Wow! This Amber Ale is my favorite! Iv’e tried a few amber ales but none with enough hops to balance the maltiness out. This great beer pours a beautiful, slightly hazy copper color with a tan fluffy head that sticks around till the fat lady sings. GREAT lacing. The head gives off an aroma of great citrusy Amarillo hops, (which I love). Also nice caramel / toffee malt aroma. The flavor is hoppy and malty. Much resin and pine flavor. A little earthy too. And oh so smooth on my palate. With a nice lingering bitterness. Wow! This is so goooood. Thank you Green Flash Brew for this hoppy amber brew. The Lord bless the hop harvest!

Bottle. The pour was a vibrant copper with lots of red and some brown in it. Somewhat sticky lacing rings down the glass after an off-white head sits atop the beer for a bit. The aroma was lots of citrus and pine hops with some sweet malt cutting through. The flavor was fairly well balanced with the malty sweetness keeping the hops in check. The mouthfeel was nice and the finish succinct. A nice IPA.

12 oz bottle courtesy Durhambeer. Reddish amber pour with a thick off white head. Very floral citrus hop aroma. Hoppy resinous bitter taste with a nice malty balance. Finishes with just a hint of bitterness. Really nice.

#511 (Mel Ott) Take Arrogant Bastard and tone it down a couple notches and you have this. Maybe compare it with Rogue American Amber. Like with a number of strong red American ales these days, there’s the suggestion of rye.
