| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jul 25, 2008 I feel let down. It looks good, it smells good and the first part of the taste is good but then finished with a metallic lingering aftertaste that I can’t forgive. Tejas (700), Dallas, Texas, USA

Love that it’s not that strong either. 6% is just right. An Amber with a tilt towards the hoppy side of the fence. Great beer. kidmartinek (986), austin, Texas, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Updated: Jul 16, 2009Deep amber with a foamy, thick 1.5" tan head. Balanced hop aroma with a strong floral presence. Aroma is also of strong caramel malt with a hoppy, spicy accent. Sediment in suspension is clearly visible in the glass. Full, delicious, balanced hop flavor that is heavy and very bitter. The caramel malt is an undertone. Smooth, light and creamy texture. So much character, you almost can’t handle it, but then you handle it. Consistency is medium-thick, and satisfying. Clean, bitter finish. These hopped up American red ales are the new IPAs. God blessed Texas and Amarillo hops. This could unseat your other favorite. Nik925 (305), California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 22, 2008 I love hoppy red ales and this is far more IPA than amber. The dry hopping of amarillos offer up a great bitterness and hop bite. It has a wonderful malt smell and palate, low end of the carbonation scale. Would be a higher score, but for some reason, that 6% alcohol has a taste of 8-9%, its surprisingly harsh.
Wonderful ale with plenty of lupilin. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Draft at Green Leafe tavern. Pours deep coppery ruby with off-khaki head. Nose is intense hops, rye malt, mild vinous fruit and peppery notes. Tastes full bodied, rich, with a well balanced rye malty and hoppy presence. I had this with gazpacho, and it paired amazingly well with that. IrishBoy (2716), Bakersfield, California, USA
