Commercial Description:
Resinous hop character and bitterness balance the rich caramel malt base. We took it a step further and Amarillo dry hopped the brew to 45 IBUs, creating refreshing and savory hop flavors and aromas. Is it Red IPA? That’s your call.

Sample mooched off Maniac at Capital Ale. Citrusy floral hop aromas. Mostly clear amber brown with moderate grainy malt backbone supporting the citrusy tea like hop flavors with moderate bitterness. Light body and moderate carbonation. Finish is mostly dry with grapefruit and some hop bitterness.

amarillo really makes it pop! ... dark copper body; great aroma--bubblegum, over caramel, malt; flavor is sweet, but resinous, earthy... tea thing going on; i like it a lot.

I’m probably the wrong peson to really trust on this review seeing as Ambers aren’t my drink of choice; but I had to try this one out of curiosity. Beautiful colour, golden red with a "sunset over the hillls" kinda feeling. Not much of a smell, but the taster is a kicker. Ropey and somewhat metallic at first, with a huge bitter finish that just keeps going and going. Interesting style and kudos to Green Flash for pushing the envelope a bit on this one...just not something i could personally buy and drink on a regular basis.

Bottle via trade w/stephanje! Pours a hazy brown amber. red, not truly but the idiom in the name is understood. Light nose of ho hops then malt. Thick oily orangish head is slightly rocky and has excellent retention. Cascade or northernbrewer hop bitterness dominate nose close to the glass, something else punches the tounge with strong bitterness. Lovely, I shoud have read the label, amarillo dry hop. small tight lacing patchy cheesecloth. that hangs on a bit before dispersing. refeshing on a hot day moving rocks

Draft at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver. Deep mahogany with a medium tan head. Aroma is moderately hoppy and sweet. Doughy malts and citrusy hops are equally present in the flavor. Finishes dry, smooth and slightly tangy. Nice summer quaffer.

dark brown with nice white head from hoppy nose, a very attractive appearing brew. the beer is has large flavors of crystal malt and maybe even some chocolate but the huge hop flavor is tremendous and makes the beer. really tastes more like an IPA, but the unique color and maltiness makes it a top of the line beer, no matter what

12oz bottle was an extra from a trade with someone from the BA site, whose name I’m not sure of. Had too many simultaneous trades going on. this pours a dark, cloudy amber with a thin off-white head. Nose was piney hops and smelled of lemon juice. Taste was of hops with some caramel and toasted malt, but the hops was dominant. Mouthfeel was medium and bitter with some carbonation.

Pours a hazy brown ruby with a foamy off-white and tan head that was long lasting and left creamy bubbled lacing on the glass, first whiff is of citrus hops and caramel, a faint woodsy aroma (from the hops?), some malt sweetness with a candy fragrance in the background, has a good hop bitterness on the palate with a taste of toasted malt and dark bread, faint malt sweetness and caramel flavors, has a medium dry finish, medium mouth feel, a fine carbonation and not to much either, I thought the hop bitterness was more prevalent than the 45 IBUs listed on the label, a good combination of hops and malt.
