Commercial Description:
Resinous hop character and bitterness balance the rich caramel malt base. We took it a step further and Amarillo dry hopped the brew to 45 IBUs, creating refreshing and savory hop flavors and aromas. Is it Red IPA? That’s your call.

Last of the keg at Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle. Dark clear brown with enormous tan head. Very malty, very thick and almost chewy. Tastes like maltomeal with hops. Slight spice. Very nice.

Bottle courtesy of Fratto. Pretty red pour, clear with little head. Hopped aroma with some musty elements. Also has sweet notes. Taste is dry and spiced. Has some red notes as well. Different for sure.

Bottle: Pours dark brown, no head at all. Aroma of brown sugar and caramel with pine. Flavour is heavy on the black tea and quite bitter with pine and floral hops. Lacking in a little sweet balance for my tastes but still an enjoyable brew.

On tap in SF. Everything I love about a well balanced red. Lovely sweet caramel malts drifting off into bittered, but not blowing your face off grapefruity hops. Nice hoppy finish with a touch of light spice. Good stuff!

Appearance? Wow. Rose-orange. Big puffy head. Impossibly murky and thick. Huge specks of yeast, like a fiber supplement. Insane. Bitter amber malts in the nose, but with a strong flowery hop. Hint of pine oil. Malts are sharp and bready. The taste is nicely bitter, bready malt. Some soft yeast. Hops very flowery and estery. Double bitter flavors, but a sweet finish. As it warms, some sweet caramel malts emerge. Feels a little gritty and grainy, but works with the red part of the beer. It’s a nice amber/IPA hybrid. Goes down very easy but not wimpy.

29-AUG-2009, bottle @Morten. Nice brownish colour. Red ale? Maybe it is dark here, but it seems more brown than red. Wonderfull piney, grapefuir nose. Quite creamy, some malts add to the hops making this a very interesting drink. In my mind this is an IPA, and I like it.

Looks like an amber ale, smells and tastes like an IPA. Sort of. It pours very dark amber red, and has a very hoppy, fruity aroma. The taste is sweet malty and very hoppy. The hoppiest amber I’ve ever had. It has a slight herbal flavor that sets it apart from the rest as well.
