Deep ruby-mahogany pour, clear, with a large lasting straw-coloured foamy head. Grainy aroma, dry cereal with dry pungent resin hop bitterness. The taste - very bitter and grainy, but I get something like crushed grapeseed in the finish - and it’s a long, dry resin finish at that. Soft, thick mouthfeel, very dry with only mild carbonation, but a long quenching, almost burnt bitter finish ---- excellent sipper. LilBeerDoctor (1528), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown/amber with a thick light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of flowery hops, sweet caramel malt, slight hint of citrus hops. Flavor is hops, hops, hops. Bitter flowery hops. Less malt presence than I’d prefer in an amber. As a super fan of ambers, I was really excited to try this one, but it let me down a little. Too much bitterness, too little flavor. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Pours a clear burnt auburn color with a massive, foamy, khaki colored head. Thick gobs of lacing coat the glass nearly entirely. Aromatics are very hoppy, with pine and sharp grapefruit the most prominent variety. Toffee and glazed biscuit provide the malty side of the nose. Flavors basically follow suit, with toasty, sweet malts and biting grapefruit and pine going head to head. Medium-plus bodied and lightly syrupy, the finish is resinous and bitter. Overall, this is a very tasty amber, borderline IPA. mpersinger (183), , California, USA

Copper in color, well-filtered with slight beige head and some lacing.
Broad malt flavor with teriyaki, truffle and rhubarb followed by a wall of crisp, citrus hops. Hops brighten in finish. SamGamgee (1465), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Updated: Jun 30, 200812oz bottle. hazy mahogany color with a compact yellowish head that leaves some sticky lacework. Candied grapefruit aroma of sweetness and citric hops mixing together. The flavor is pretty much their IPA with less bitterness and more sweetness. If you are in the mood for a maltier and less hoppy ale, this will do. At the same time, it really isn’t that interesting in comparison. A nice, hoppy amber, but the malts aren’t giving enough to trump that hop flavor, which is still less than I would want for an IPA. I guess I just don’t get it. (746314, 3.4)............. Rerate: Bottled again. Head lasts for days. Super floral and grapefruit aroma is nice, but there is some malty sweetness poking through too. tasted it warmer this time around, and the bitterness gave way to a nicer malt flavor. Hops are still super green and grapefruity. This really is quite bitter. Palate seems smoother and just right in the middle thickness wise. As long as you know that you are getting into a darker IPA, I think Green Flash has got you covered here. blipp (1710), Newark, New Jersey, USA

Finishes with a nice lingering bitterness. michael-pollack (2723), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
