| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Appearance? Wow. Rose-orange. Big puffy head. Impossibly murky and thick. Huge specks of yeast, like a fiber supplement. Insane.
Bitter amber malts in the nose, but with a strong flowery hop. Hint of pine oil. Malts are sharp and bready.
The taste is nicely bitter, bready malt. Some soft yeast. Hops very flowery and estery. Double bitter flavors, but a sweet finish. As it warms, some sweet caramel malts emerge.
Feels a little gritty and grainy, but works with the red part of the beer. It’s a nice amber/IPA hybrid. Goes down very easy but not wimpy. jesperhammer (341), Copenhagen, Denmark

Nice brownish colour. Red ale? Maybe it is dark here, but it seems more brown than red.
Wonderfull piney, grapefuir nose.
Quite creamy, some malts add to the hops making this a very interesting drink. In my mind this is an IPA, and I like it. joeneugs (370), Livermore, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2009 Looks like an amber ale, smells and tastes like an IPA. Sort of. It pours very dark amber red, and has a very hoppy, fruity aroma. The taste is sweet malty and very hoppy. The hoppiest amber I’ve ever had. It has a slight herbal flavor that sets it apart from the rest as well. obguthr (1067), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 26, 2009 Caramel and cherry aroma with some obvious pine and wood notes. Opaque ochre pour, full of floaties, thin yellow head, good lacing. Pleasant medium mouthfeel, but tinny when warm. Yeasty pine flavor. The hops are almost exclusively bitter and piney, slightly floral, and devoid of any citrus character. Enjoyable and one of the better ones I have had of the style, and I’ll bet mine wasn’t even a good sample of it. mansquito (842), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 26, 2009 Pours a nice looking beige head with a dark amber body with tons of floating sediment in it. The aroma of hops dominates the nose, along with a few citrus notes. Really good amount of hops in the taste of the beer itself (maybe a few too many for this beer though). A little sweet with a nice malty undertone. Having a few of these beers leaves your mouth kind of dry and hopped out, so it is hard to drink a bunch of these which is a problem for me who is the proud owner of a case. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2009 12 oz. bottle at Lunar Brewing Co., Villa Park, IL. Poured a reddish amber hue with a foamy, off white head and clingy, draping lace. Tough to sample after the West Coast IPA, but after plenty of water and a couple of snacks, I was up for the challenge. Comparatively lighter hop aroma of citrus and pine, along with smooth malt. The flavor was assertive with initial hop bitterness laying the ground work, backed up by some caramel sweetness melded in to a balanced mix. Very nice American Amber/Red Ale.
