Commercial Description:
"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

Pours what I would call a bright orange. Nice fluffy 1/4" head that fades and sticks a bit. You can see the very lively carbonation that speeds upward. Big nose of a spicy hop with a decent smell of various fruits, some citrus and some not. Apricot, Grapefruit a hint of anise or some other very peppery yet sweet aroma. Still mostly hops though, which is good for an Imperial IPA. But not hoppy enough of an odor for me. I want an Imperial to reek of hops. A nice strong hop front that goes the distance all the way through the beer and long into the after taste. It’s a bit sticky in that way. But like I said in the last paragraph; I wish it had much much more hops. The flavor isn’t quiet overwhelming enough for me to dub this a true Imperial IPA. Very good though. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a stickiness on the tongue, roof of your mouth and throat of this beer. I wish they triple the amount of hops in this beer. It would have been erected into the Beer hall of fame with other like Dreanaught. This beer is crying out to be better than it is. It’s a valiant effort on the part of the Green Flash brewing co. Thanks for the effort guys! A truly enjoyable beer! This beer is very drinkable but don’t let your guard down, she’ll still sneak up on you and leave you on the floor drooling if you’re not careful. A really decent pick up.

Pours a hazy yellowish orange. almost glowing. resinous piney aroma. sweet malty taste. Bitterness is very strong, but hop character is more limited. seems to have a fruity tone to it. I taste peaches or apricots. Bitter, with a heavy dense sweetness; reminds me somewhat of a barley wine but not as much bitterness and harshness. pretty well in balance.

Pours orange with a foamy head. Smells piney and citrusy with plenty of hops. Flavor was thick and hoppy. Certainly not a bad beer, especially for the price, I just prefer their west coast IPA more.

Lots of piney, citrus hops. Doesn’t meld together as well as some other IIPAs I’ve tried. Really heavy in all areas and certainly enjoyable, altough a bit too citrusy at times. This is the only negative for a big, huge beer. Good price too for the style

bomber from john’s marketplace in portland. hazy gold pour with a sturdy finger of head. aroma is mainly grassy pine hops. strong bitter hop taste balanced nicely with a caramel, toffee and honey sweetness. little bit of citrus in there as well. lingering pleasant bitterness. tingly medium texture and slight warm finish. big fan. Pours a mostly clear orange with an amber hue and a lovely thick frothy off-white head. Aroma has a little of everything, piney, resin, citrus, earthy, bitter, light honey and caramel. First taste is very earthy and bitter quickly followed by some sugar. Light peachy notes, diluted caramel, touch of honey, but mostly piney and very bitter. Medium/full body, quite sugary, smooth fluffy big-bubbled carbonation, the hops oils sting and wake up the mouth. I usually don’t like super sugary and super bitter IPA’s without a lot of citrus, however I enjoy this quite a bit.

Bottle. Poured orange in color with nice white head. Aroma was hops, citrus, and a little caramel. Taste is malt, caramel, and floral hops. Nice texture and clean finish. A Solid brew.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is a big citrus sensation with orange and grapefruit dominating. The nose is rounded out by sweet caramel malt and some pine. The flavor has a nice caraeml malt base from which the hops do their best to dominate. Again, the hops are mainly citrus (orange and grapefruit) and pine. The bitterness builds with each drink. Medium bodied with a dry finish. The alcohol is not a factor in the flavor which at 9% is nice. I find myself drawn to the West Coast IPA/IIPA.
