So the Green Flash West Coast IPA was excellent, and I was hoping that this would be as well. Boy, was I ever wrong. The only redeeming quality of this brew is the appearance which is a nice golden color with a nice lacing effect. Aroma is pungent hops, but the pungency gave way to a garlic aroma. Try as I may, the initial aroma I get is garlic. Once I painfully get past the garlic there is a nose of some pungent citrus hops. But again, I get garlic. Blech. Taste is a little better, the garlic flavor is still there, but not as intense as it is in the aroma. Some citrus flavors are evident as well as some a peculiar anise taste. Basically, take a nice IPA, add some garlic and some pizzelles and you essentially get Green Flash IIPA. The alcohol is well hidden and carbonation is low. Glad I got to taste this, but regrettfully, it’s a big mess IMHO. Petrucci914 (593), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma piney hops, some grapefruit/pineapple. Taste is very hoppy up front, some citrus, and some nasty underlying chlorine type taste on the backgound and palate. Had higher hopes for this. Kinda hard to choke down. SudsMcDuff (1706), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Bomber. Pours a lively orange with a small sized off-white head. The aroma is piney, with some orange and grass as well. Just about what I had expected, except not as pungent. The flavor is a slap in the mouth of bittering, resiny hops. After the initial hop onslaught subsides, there’s a good amount lingering under the surface. The malts are nicely placed to create a bit of an overall sweetness, and there is definitely a warming from the alcohol finish that seems to subside a little with each sip. This is one awesome hop monster. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA

Hops dominate but the malty backbone balances it out. Everything is balanced and just plain great. KnN (750), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2008 pours a beautiful almost neon orange with a thin long-lasting white head. The aroma of this beer is almost pure pine-type hops.
The flavor is bitter pine but there’s a hint of sweetness playing around the edges which is nice. You can kind of tell it’s a 9% beer, but the alcohol tint isn’t distracting at all. This is a nice Imperial IPA. MesandSim (5946), London, Greater London, England

Amazing bright orange, very hazy with a thin but stable white head. Superb piney and resinous hoppage all round with the expected sugary malt. Gorgeous bitterness, lovely and dry and just really nicely ballanced all round. Slight ethanol like boozy notes. Tasty as hell and just what I needed right now. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a hazy, golden-orange color; creamy, significant light-tan head with great retention and lacing that coats the glass; very nice pour. Loads of juicy, resiny citrus and earthy hops in the aroma; very hop-forward and fresh; lemon zest, minerals, and lime; slight candy sugar / earthy core. Lively carbonation. Chewy candy sugar maltiness and zesty, spicy hops in a medium-to-full mouthfeel: very spicy, earthy, and citrus-laden hop character; mildest astringency and plenty of bitterness; very bitter, intensely hopped, mildly rough-edged double IPA; quite enjoyable overall; minimal touches of alcoholic warmth coming through. Lengthy finish: lots of spicy / citrus hops, earthy malts in the background, and plenty of lingering, chewy bitterness.
