First Impression: deep, smoky aroma and a simple gold body with a white head. Aroma is smoke, hops, and some funk. Visuals are a gold body with a persistent white head with very intricate lacing. Taste is a roller coaster - a bit metallic, somewhat mechanical, deeply hoppy, and lacking balance, which I don’t mind. Palate is sharply bitter with a smoky sourness. Long dark, deep finish. Rich. Second Impression - a very special IIPA, in that it imparts a sausagey flavor to the hoppy bitterness, and avoids the cloying answer to the bitterness and preserves the bitter crunch nicely. A great buy for such a very uniquely treated co-style.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Poured a hazy golden amber with a tall thick foamy head. There was a good grassy hop aroma. A good strong hop flavor and bite. On the finish the hoppiness led to a milder bitterness than the Stone Ruination IPA with a subtle bit of sweetness on the finish softening the bitterness. There was good lacing throughout the glass. Excellent Beerman6686 (1292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2008 Pours a nice amber color with an off white head. Aroma is just tons of hops. Flavor is also overloaded with hops, not balanced at all, definately a west coast IIPA Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA

Aroma is of citrus and pine hops mostly with some caramel and a slight hint of alcohol. Flavor is bitter with the citrus and pine hops right away. Sweet malts in the middle and a bitter, slightly warm finish. NobleSquirrel (1120), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Reminds me a lot of Hop Slam for some reason. A bit sweet and definitely hop, though no hop bomb in terms of bitterness. Very smooth and drinkable. Pour is nice golden yellow with a fluffy head. Nice beer that I’m glad to see is in Illinois these days. oakbluff (300), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Pours a light orange with pretty good clarity. Two finger head with moderate white lacing. Nose- most spicy hops I’ve had the pleasure of smelling. Herbal, pine, very pungent. Taste- caramel sweetness quickly offset by citric bitterness that follows through to the finish. Grapefruit and high alpha acide good times here. Carbonation is moderate and no booze is detected. Likely masked by overwhelming bitterness. Mouth drys out quickly with worth every drop. madsberg (5050), Søborg, Denmark

Herbs, pine, flowers, citrus and some sugar and caramel in aroma and flavour. Quite intense and rather balanced for a IIPA. Medium to full bodied. Very dry. Is immensly bitter, but not overwhelming due to some sugary sweetness. Nice.
