Citrus and pepper hop raise promising aromatic but just falls short on malt complexity. Not bad. Smell of fruity tootie hops. Citrusy, tangy hop flavor with a just a hint of that garlic business bennylava mentioned. A hint of alcohol complements the hops. Glad I grabbed one. Very drinkable for the abv. Bov (5478), Bienne, Switzerland

22oz bomber. I’ll likely rerate this beer again, and it will probably be much higher. However, in this tasting, I couldn’t get past the onion aroma and garlic flavors in the beer. I later read some homebrewing forums and these flavors are noticed by some when using large quantities of Summit hops. Gmoney (257), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Bomber, poured into Tripel Karmeliet tulip. Color is brilliantly clear and light orange. Aroma is intensely floral and grassy, and a deep sniff will also reveal lemony elements. Flavor starts with fresh cut grass and flowers, sharp hoppiness rounded by some sweetness in the middle and a sharply bitter, spicy, and flowery finish with a touch of grapefruit. So hoppy it almost sizzles in your mouth. Boy, that bitterness stays with you in a lovely way. Alcohol contributes a touch of astringency in the finish, but in general, the hops overwhelm it. Overall, this is as expected a delicious brew. It is intensely hoppy, and a great display of West Coast brewing. The clarity and color of this brew are truly world-class. For some reason though, it can’t surpass GF’s West Coast IPA. Chipper (186), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA

Very drinkable hoppy taste. Nice dry finish. The alcohol is very well hidden. Great stuff. drowland (1418), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Aroma is big sweet malt and a lot of FRESH hops, which smells nice, with, of course, a touch of alcohol as it warms. The flavor is up front sweet fermentables (haha) with a nice balance of hops. This is good, but unfortunately it’s not Hopslam or 90 minute... what can I say? I forgot to mention the breathe-out has minor coffee notes... probably the bitterness.
