KAggie97 (1886), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Jun 19, 2008 Bottle from IrishBoy. Thanks! Pours an average cheddar orange with a pine resin, grapefruit, and orange nose. Flavor is malt upfront, with a nice finish of grapefruit. Feels nice on the tongue but the flavor fades too quickly. Pretty good, but the malt detracts from the sour tones that should be first and foremost in the beer.
chrisafari (77), Orange, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 Aroma is floral hops and citrus. Pours hazy amber orange with rocky off white head. Flavor begins with subtle citrus and florals and then becomes nicely hoppy. The hop flavor is clean and refreshing, finishes by leaving the throat dry and bitter. Medium bodies with some good lacing and nice fluffy head. A good Imperial IPA, but was expecting a little more hop kick. Very drinkable though. Crit (2237), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Aug 26, 2008 Another highly overrated beer. The musty nose isn’t pleasant, and while it has all the necessary flavors, they don’t seem to blend together at all mrant (245), New York, USA Aug 25, 2008 Smells wonderfully sour, grapefruit hops with sticky malt notes. Pours a hazy orange-ish color. Very yellow for an IPA. Small white head. Taste is odd, kind of like rubbing alcohol. The hop flavors don’t do much to mask the alcohol. Not bad, but I’ve had way better Juelze (676), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Aug 23, 2008 Trade from Ross man. So the Green Flash West Coast IPA was excellent, and I was hoping that this would be as well. Boy, was I ever wrong. The only redeeming quality of this brew is the appearance which is a nice golden color with a nice lacing effect. Aroma is pungent hops, but the pungency gave way to a garlic aroma. Try as I may, the initial aroma I get is garlic. Once I painfully get past the garlic there is a nose of some pungent citrus hops. But again, I get garlic. Blech. Taste is a little better, the garlic flavor is still there, but not as intense as it is in the aroma. Some citrus flavors are evident as well as some a peculiar anise taste. Basically, take a nice IPA, add some garlic and some pizzelles and you essentially get Green Flash IIPA. The alcohol is well hidden and carbonation is low. Glad I got to taste this, but regrettfully, it’s a big mess IMHO. Petrucci914 (337), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pours a rather clear golden color with a thin white head with some sticky lacing. Aroma piney hops, some grapefruit/pineapple. Taste is very hoppy up front, some citrus, and some nasty underlying chlorine type taste on the backgound and palate. Had higher hopes for this. Kinda hard to choke down.
