redave (108), squaw valley, California, USA Jul 10, 2007 22 oz. bomber in Fresno’s BevMo. [if you can believe that!]
Rich golden pale amber.
Very full fluffy head.
Thick lacing all the way down.
Aroma doesn’t seem quite as strong as the West Coast IPA, [but ;-P I have another to try again!]
Tastes very good, Malty as expected with a big beer, but sharp hop bitterness present as well.
If I am able to get this on a regular basis. [please BevMo] Then this will be in regular rotation.
I’ve seen that this is available much farther East than i would normally expect, Go San Diego, and to the domination of the west coast hop head migration!

LilBeerDoctor (797), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a semi-cloudy orange with a thick off-white head. Aroma of grassy, garlicky hops, toasted malt, and sour grapefruit. Flavor of odd garlicky hops/ toasted malt. It’s a strange flavor I sometimes get in IIPAs. This reminds me of DFH 90 min, and not in a good way. Almost undrinkable and rather nasty. Harsh palate. Ick.
6/4/4/2/10 (2.6/5) fidelis83 (227), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours hazy orange wtih a tall straw head that has good retention and leaves some lacing. Aroma is citrus hops, caramel, lots of toffee, slightly toasted coconut, some pine. Hop intensity is a little low in the nose for an imperial, alcohol scent is pretty high for a 9% IIPA. Flavor is lots of toffee and dark caramel, toasty cranberry muffins with orange marmalade, grapefruit hops, there is also a berry/candy note that is kinda misplaced, almost artificial. Finish is bitter and fruity with a burnt sugar and toffee backbone, the finish lasts forever and leaves a planty, bitter hop burnt sugar aftertaste. Not a great IIPA but pretty light and easy to drink. I really don’t taste the 101 IBU’s though, maybe an old bottle. petermadsen (359), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Jan 3, 2009 WOW!! This is a really neat IIPA with heaps of fresh tasting hops and a very clean and crisp palate. The colour is quite light amber. The aroma is hoppy with some fruity notes. The flavour is all good: Hops in legio with notes of citrus and fresh grass and a perfectly balanced bitterness. Nik925 (205), California, USA Dec 28, 2008 Strong hop up front. Too much malt sweetness behind it and the bitterness level is too strong and unbalanced. A great over-hopped IPA that would have been much better as a single instead of a forced Double. Still great hop flavors with notes of cotton candy. JaBier (240), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 27, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy copper with a big white head. Aroma of hop, grapefruit and feet. Sort of dank flavor with lots of citrusy hops and some malt. Was hoping for it to be more crisp. Drank this with a friend who had it before and said this might be a bad bottle. Still pretty good overall. Will re-rate if it tastes different next time.
