Commercial Description:
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Pours a two finger off-white head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color, ton of yeast left in bottle. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Pear nose. Flavor is sweet and sour pear and grapefruit. Not bad but not a Belgian trippel. High ABV is hidden. $9.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Interesting aroma...typical Belgian yeast aroma with citrus hops blended in. I was excited to try this beer, but for some reason it just didn’t do it for me. It had a weird bitter sour aftertaste that was somewhat tart. Awesome aroma, average flavor.

Daytona 500 tasting. Bomber. Sweet nose, fruity and caramel, spicy citrus. Some pine resin creeps in. Spicy-sweet fruit flavors, solid as hell. Another big win from GF!

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy orangey color ale with a large foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of dry citrusy hops. Taste is also dominated by dry citrusy hops with a lightly sweet malt body. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no sign of alcohol. Very well done with great balanced between hoppy notes and malt; some more fruity ester would have brought this to another level.

Cloudy, foamy, and pleasant in smell and appearance. Tastes incredibly sour and bitter. I am not getting a good balance between the yeast and hops and the biscuit malt. I respect everyone’s opinions on this one, and it is a style i normally enjoy. I chalk this up to just my pallet being unique/retarded, and or the bottle being skunky.

Bottle at Butters Big Cellar Blowout. Pours an off-white head with a golden amber body. Smells of yeast, banana, and spice hops. Flavor is yeast, some banana, clove and bread notes. Finish is sharply bitter.

Butters cellar blowout tasting. Its like a wheat IPA. Blend of yeasty fruit with citrus. Shows just the right amount of Belgian Triple and IPA. Just enough funk just enough yeast. Like this beer a lot.

Butters Big Blowout - Pours a cloudy orange with small white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, lemon zest and hops. Similar taste, although spicy. Yeast and hops really shines through on the finish. Very resiny brew.
