Commercial Description:
Le Freak is a modern ale created by converging two beer styles, Belgian Trippel and American Imperial IPA. The use of two yeast strains further marries the styles and American hops give the beer its modern flare.

Color is golden with a slight haze, good carbonation and a tall thick head. Aroma is a nice Belgian yeast scent with hop tones and a touch of citrus. Taste is fruity, citrusy and bitter. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a citrus feel coming on. Finish is fruity with good Belgian yeast flavors, some citrus that comes in the form of dried orange peel and a faint floral hop taste and a stout bitterness. After taste a little dry with the bitterness lingering on. This is another great brew from Green Flash, its nicely complex and is exactly what they describe it to be. I love when a brew comes out tasting the way its suppose to.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Pours hazy golden/blonde, with white head. Aroma is grainy reminding me a lot of a good Belgian triple. Taste, some fruity notes (citrus/orange), floral hops and notes of spices and sweet honey.Strong Belgian influence, yeasty flavor. Mouthfeel and aftertaste are hoppy and lightly spicy.

Bottle at San Diego Brewers Guild Festival 2008. Lots of Belgium yeast. A good hop balance. Bitter palate. Pretty good !

Deep golden pour, very clear, with a thin white head. Fruity nose, hints of apple, alcohol, and clove esters. A bit to much booziness came through on this one, a bit distracting. Dry finish with lingering bitter citrus hops. The Stone belgian IPA I had was more floral with less excess alcohol.

Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is that of a golden ale with an aroma of apple, caramel, honey, spice, and some balanced bitter. Flavor is similar with some pepper and spice. Some brett presence, especially in the finish.

Pours golden with huge white head. Aroma is hoppy, with some sweet light fruits. Flavor is heavy hops and trippel.Tthe hops are intense, as is the alcohol. Interesting balance of the flavors: cool hybrid. I had the opportunity to try this shortly after trying Chouffe. Definitely preferred the hopiness of this one, but the malt is no where near Chouffe.

Rich foam on dark cloudy orange. Strong dry grapefruit aroma. Sweet orange and woody hop flavour. Delicious and hoppy but closer to an IIPA rather than a Chouffe or Urthel. Not Belgian enough.

Bottle (22oz). Pours a lovely bubbly golden-orange with a large fizzy/frothy off-white head. Nice aroma is equally hoppy and yeasty, also flowery with mild sweetness, some light spices and finally, some fruit. Flavour follows the aroma but is a bit boozier then expected, yeastier and less hoppy then the aroma suggests. Big, long bitter finish. Average bodied. Not quite as awesome as some of the other Belgian meets IPA beers I’ve had but still very, very good.
