draft at coles- this is without a doubt my favorite of the new ’’Belgian Style IPAs’’, mainly because this beer was not overwhelmed by the yeast/spice flavors of the belgian strain- rather the same hop brightness and flavor so often found in gf beers was dominant here, as they should be in an ipa. well done. re-rate- pizza plant, 5/1/09- much of the belgian notes i stated were restrained, were far more dominant this time around muting the hop presence- still an occasional thing, but not outstanding.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head recedes leaving spot lacing to hug rim. Pineapple and apricot aromas. Crisp with upfront biscuit and pepper with a lasting grapefruit finish.

22 oz bottle, served in tulip. Pours a clear amber that clouds when you reach the sediment on the bottle floor. Sizeable off-white head fades slowly, leaving little lacing. Medium carbonation. Aromas of bananas, peppery spice, yeast, and citrus. I pick up more of the trippel in the aroma than the IPA, but there is a hop crispness there. Medium-bodied mouthfeel with soft carbonation. The trippel shows in the flavor right up front, where you get a hint of the alcohol and banana flavors prevalent in the style, but it turns to a puckering grapefruit rind, with a bitter, slightly piney, lingering finish. I’m not a huge fan, but have never been partial to heavily hopped belgian-style ales, as the style is a bit confusing to the palate, and I don’t think the flavors blend well. An interesting beer, but not something I’ll seek out.

Poured from 22 oz bottle a medium hazy light golden hue, nice size off white foamy head. Aroma of yeast, banana, hops, clove and spices. Flavour much of the same, however, pine resins and hoppage slam down. A wonderful marry of these lovely styles. Excellent beer, would love to try an on tap version, find it and drink it.

22 oz. bottle. A hazy gold pour with a big light-tan head. A mouth-watering aroma that features tons of pungent pine needles and grapefruits. Big body. Almost syrupy. A good bit of sweet caramel upfront. A nice transition with some rich vanilla flavors. Loads of grapefruits and orange peels in the tongue-strippingly dry finish that lingers. Some spiciness in there at the end too. This is great stuff!

Opaque amber orange, citrus, yeasty hoppy, spicey orange peel, piney, little bannana.

22 oz Bottle. Crazy nose. Mint, fruit, citrus, nutmeg, clove, so many different things going on. The ’’usual Belgian’’ smell but tons more. Great orange amber color; light fluffy head that dissapated to light lace rather quickly. Feels thick in the mouth before I can even taste it. Next taste I get is creamy, then Belgian then... Lots of movement. The kind of beer you’d have to drink a number of times to really get a firm grasp of. It’s like the orange with the cloves stuck in it. Tangggy. Lagery sharpness. YUM
