I was afraid the flavors would be a mess but they compliment each other very nicely. up front there is a nice yeast, clove, esters, light fruit flavor which gives way to fresh hops and ends with a nice peppery bitterness. flavor is full like a good trippel, hopped nicely. alcohol warming in finish. well done. brentfeesh (1041), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 3, 2008 Bottle enjoyed at Le Cave Du Vin in Cleveland. Copper pour with a big white head. Green pepper and earthy hops on top of Belgian Golden yeast notes (really my least favorite of the Belgian aroma and flavor profiles). Fresh hoppy grass, citrus peal and very obvious green pepper notes. I’ve got to say, it’s that green pepper flavor and aroma that does nothing for me. Medium body, with a dry finish. These are interesting brews (as was 080808) but I don’t think they will ever become a favorite. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 2, 2008 22 oz bomber. Pours a nice hazy golden in color with a well retaining medium to large white head. Aroma has a good deal of PNW hops- citrusy and fruity, yet has a good deal of belgian yeast- estery and phenolicy, with the trademark musty basement. Taste: very good- alot of american hops up front, fruity, with banana esters and yeasty phenols. Initially sweet with esters and honey, turns moderately bitter with hops and really dries out in the finish. Green Flash did a great job with this, might be my favorite offering from them so far. Definitely worth the 8 bucks I paid for the bomber. 00cobraR (1103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2008 A rather interesting brew. Much better than I expected it to be. A trippel and IIPA just doent sound like such a great combo, but it was rather good. Pours out a darker amber color with a big white head. aroma was sweet, yeasty, and rather hoppy. Flavor was similar with a dominate sweet finish that becomes hoppy. Like l said, a rather interesting brew. FROTHINGSLOSH (2045), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a dark amber color with a large orange-white head. The aroma was lightly sweet and fruity. The flavor was sweet, sugary and a touch yeasty with no noticable hops on the front but the sweetness changes into a wallop of dry fruity and floral hops that really linger. Interesting. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Bomber shared with Axilla. Thanks!!! Poured hazy gold in color with a large frothy white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney, grapefruit citrus hops with Belgian yeast. Tastes of citrus hops, pine, Belgian fruity esters, sweet caramel, and Belgian yeast. Very nice. I really enjoyed this hybrid. The hops were very prevalent upfront, but the triple base was very nice. willblake (2191), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 1, 2008 20080831 Bomber from Red Bank Spirits. Golden with lofty, rocky white head, clumping, coating lace. Looks like a tripel, for sure. Aroma is hoppy with tropical and citrus notes, and also yeasty with spice, herb, and grassy notes. Nice. Medium-full bodied with mild pale ale feeling across the front, sharp hop bitterness in the middle, and mixed finish of light sweetness but fruity, sharp, pithy lingering ending. Dusty at times. I could see this being a great match with grilled white meats and sweet corn with enough balance of sweet and sharp to counter either aspect. I could also see this having been brewed by Fantome, though they may have done a drier beer. Well done stuff. Good thing, too, because this one was pretty pricey at over eight bucks a bomber -- a bit of a price shock for a Green Flash brew. ¾ (5011), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Beautiful golden soft pour with a large, frothy white head. Satisfying blend of green, grassy, dry hop cones with a slight saison funk, that pillowy yeast with hints of cobwebs and cheese, it works well here. Bright and flavorful, rich and frothy and soft on the palate, hoppy and bitter for sure, but also delicate, with the hop flavors complimented very well by the sticky but dry cheese-feet yeast note (still quite mild). I like it.
