I found this to be a better than average brown ale, because as we know brown ales can be mundane. The aroma was nice with enough roasted nut character, wet dirt, and sweet malts to make this very intriguing. Appearance was a deep brown color, thin off-white head which didn’t last long at all. The coloring was great though. Mouthfeel I found perplexing, as I normally don’t care for the carbonated feel in my mouth like I have 7-Up in there swirling around, which was the case in this beer. But with that said, it seemed to help this beer carry a lively Duvelesque quality to it. The flavor of the beer had enough hops and roasted/nutty malts to make me happy and it finished suprisingly dry. Pretty well balanced I thought. Overally, I’m glad I got a sixer of this because I’ll be enjoying the other 5. RSRIZZO (1368), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Had this beer on 8/28/2006. Aroma is a light roasted malt scent. Color is a deep hazy brown with good carbonation and thin tight head. Taste is light and crisp. Starting with a full/light body it goes down with a bright crisp feel. Finish comes on with a mild malt flavor back by a gentle bitterness. Overall not a stand out brew and may be a bit weak for what they are calling an English-style Brown Ale. I do like it and it is an easy drinking brew. Icommonsewer (122), TUCSON, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 18, 2007 my wife and I call this excellent brew ’the lost cousin of Reapers Mortality Stout’... as there are hints of that brew in the spirit of this brown ale. Arguably the most flavorful brown ale we have ever had Orion1800 (48), Piedmont, California, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 7, 2007 12 oz bottle. Aroma had a chocolate malty nose. Dark body with tan head. Flavor seem to have a good deal of carbination holding back a coco and caramel malt tring to break though. Smooth on the palate bit watery although. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
