Commercial Description:
The Nut Brown is an English-Style Ale having rich caramel malt flavors and drying nutty characteristics in the finish. British and Belgian specialty malts are used in this brew to enhance the depth of malt flavor and aroma. Mild hops are used to lend just the right balance to the lush malt flavors and medium body.

I am rating this beer out of the bottle and poured into a pint glss. The first thing I noticed upon pouring was its intense dark color. It is a medium brown, but you can’t see through it at all. The head was much lighter than I would have expected from looking at the color of the beer. It doesn’t have much of an aroma to it at all, which made me worry that it wouldn’t have much flavour either. I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first sip. The beer had plenty of flavor and was even a little hoppy and bitter (just a little). The beer felt fairly thin in my mouth and was easy to drink. Nut browns are not my favorite, but I enjoyed drinking this one.

12 oz. bottle from beer of the month club. Pours brown with thin skin-like head. Malty mouthfeel with roasty flavor and chocolate undertones. Decent.

First impression is that this is an excellent color. The head is decent; for a beer this carbonated I’ll take it. The smell is excellent, makes my mouth water just smelling it. The taste is equally great. There is a great coffee flavor to it. Excellent.

This was a perfect example of the Nut Brown style of beer. The beer was delicious in every way. Nice sweet malts with a nutty, fresh baked bread-like finish. Creamy and smooth on he palate. I enjoyed it greatly.

12 oz. bottle. Poured a nice dark brown with tan head. Aroma of nuts and a hint of coffee. Tasted somewhat sweet up front, perhaps hazelnuts. As with all of the brown ales I’ve tried, there’s a noticeable alcohol presence, not that it’s a bad thing. Finish is malty with some coffee and chocolate notes. I got these in a beer-of-the-month shipment as a Christmas gift. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

02.01.07 12oz bottle picked up locally. This is a pretty nice find for a malty session brew. Pretty stuff, as have been all Green Flash beers I’ve tried so far, it’s a dark caramel brown with frothy and lasting beige head. Aroma is full of coffee with a toasted grain nuttiness. It’s going great with the rice fond I just scraped out of my pot. The flavor is full, roasty, nutty, hints of mild coffee and lingering chocolate, and tentative but emerging earthiness. Late on the palate is a quick bite of bitterness and a snippet of sour, the only even slightly off-putting moment of the quaff. I’ve got to say, there’s not much not to like about this no-nonsense brown ale that’s certainly getting the job done in my eyes. I can’t believe I’m about to drop a 4.0 on a brown ale, but, hey, it’s pretty darn good.

12 oz. stubby brown bottle. No freshness date seen. Pours out a medium brown color, with a thin, but sticky, tan colored head. Aromas are of brown malts, some sugars present also. Flavors are pretty mundane, nothing special stands out to me. Best guess on ABV % is about 4.8 or so. Decent body, slick mouthfeel. Decent attempt on the style.

pretty solid brown ale. A nice, but mild, nutty aroma with hints of coccoa and caramel. Taste was sweet with some nutty flavors. Carbonation was mild which made a really smooth easy to drink beer.
