From what I tasted, this is a pretty solid nut brown. Not off-tasting like newcastle, with nice hazelnut and light hops. Although I didn’t drink the whole thing, I liked this much more than the GF extra pale ale I was drinking. Pretty good. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Dark copper pour, nice thick and creamy mocha colored head that leaves a generous trail of lace. Aroma of baker’s chocolate and baked brown bread. Flavor has a coffee profile with some chocolate to sweeten it up, Hints of nuts of course with a trace of diacltyl - similar to what I have noted with Reaper Ales in the past. Mouthfeel is thick enough, but not a feature of this one. Gift from Aurelius - part of his Ale-in-the-mail monthly shipment. Aurelius (2648), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2006 A big foamy head, Medium brown beer, very bad clipart label, potato-masher California microbrew bottle. Porterish aroma - patent malt, nuts, dry. Doesn’t have the fruit and grass that I look for in a brown, but it’s servicable. The beer itself has a bit of that grassiness, but it’s on the porterish side. Nuttiness, but no fruitiness. Toasted cereal, medium bittering, some of which is the dark malt itself. Finishes out with a little too much dark malt bitterness - clingy. A little polish and this would be an above-average beer. As it is, it’s an OK beer. Ale-in-the-Mail selection for December 2006. The nose is malty, with chocolate and coffee being the most evident aromas. There is a great deal of chocolate that is very appealing for me my palate. This is a nice balanced to malt accented Brown Ale that is pretty darn tasty. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA
