Commercial Description:
The Nut Brown is an English-Style Ale having rich caramel malt flavors and drying nutty characteristics in the finish. British and Belgian specialty malts are used in this brew to enhance the depth of malt flavor and aroma. Mild hops are used to lend just the right balance to the lush malt flavors and medium body.

Pours a brown head that fades quickly leaving traces of lace. Deep reddish brown color. Medium bodied beer with slight bitterness at finish. Green Flash?? Isn’t that a super hero?

This dark brown ale poured with a decent beige head that dissipated quickly. There is a nice roasted malt flavor that makes this beer worth drinking, but not much else to recommend it.

May 2007 - Dark amber pour with ok head, no lacing. Burnt nut aroma. The flavor was burnt coffee grounds, tobacco and unsweetened chocolate with burnt sweet nuts. This beer just didn’t appeal to me all that much.

Rich autumnal brown with red tinge. Head quickly dissipates but retains a thin layer and leaves lacings around glass. Big nutty, cocoa/chocolate, coffee, with faint toasty caramel aroma and taste. Aroma is melded together perfectly as is the flavor. Very sweet. Chewy malt. Hops are employed solely to balance. Watery feel on the palate. Slightly dry finish. Maybe a little too sweet, but easily the best brown ale I’ve tried.

malty beer, with a somewhat sweet but dry and unsatisfying finish. Medium brown colour with a bit of foaming head. Malty nutty aroma. Smooth drinking and creaminess in medium mouthfeel

Starts with somewhat sweet flowery aroma but tastes kind of strange with a buttery nut flavor which does not seem to mend well with the roasted chocolate malt flavors. Nuttier in the aftertaste than the sip.

Bottled. Dark brown coloure with a thin tan head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and malt. Big flavour of more chocolate, a hint of hops and a nutty finish. Very nice brown.

A very nice brown similar to a New Castle but not as vinious. More palate that a new Castle and more roasted malts. Mild hops and malt balance as described in the characteristics is correct.
