Pours a clear reddish brown under a small fizzy off-white head that faded quickly but left some nice lacing. Aroma is rather hoppy with some toasted and caramel maltiness. A little grainy with a hint of vanilla as well. Flavor is fairly dry with a good amount of Munich malt up front fading to a lightly bitter hoppy finish. Very well balanced, nothing outstanding but pretty flavorful. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Texture is just shy of creamy. Overall, a middle of the road "red" ale. Pretty flavorful but nothing to write home about. HDane (81), Chesapeake, Virginia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2006 12 oz bottle. Nice red color with a minimal head that didn’t last long. Aromas were minimal as well. Mostly malts and just a touch of citrus. Flavors really brang out the hops which blended nicely with the maltiness. I thought the balance on this beer was outstanding. Pretty good.
