Palate is wellc aoted & carbonated. toasted munich malt flavor w/ a light crisp finish hints of carmel in the finish. Pretty good stuff. chargerfanjess (116), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 26, 2006 There’s a nice foamy head atop this one, off-white in color, that dissipates to leave a tight layer of foam. The nose is full of hop character. There’s a piney/fresh character, as well as a fruity character. The taste is initially all malt. It starts with a taste of sweet malt, then moves on to a bready/biscuity maltiness. The maltiness is balanced in the finish by a strong hop character. The finish is also a bit dry. Carbonation and mouthfeel fit the style, but nothing earth-shattering there. A very enjoyable brew that I wouldn’t hesitate to try again.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 16, 2006 This beer is a deep red, amber tinged, brilliantly clear color. The head is a frothy, almost creamy in consistency, tan color. The aroma is thick with crystal malts and a hint of hop character. There is a light citrus component and a bit of a spicy herbal note. There is also a soft fruitiness that reminds me of berries.
The taste is pretty dry up front and there is quite a bit of malt character. I get notes of crystal malt foremost; from notes of caramel and a toasted biscuit like flavor. There is a nice solid hop bite in the finish. There is a bit of hop flavor here that mostly contributes a bit of spiciness and a hint fruit notes. This is a nicely malty brew, that has just enough hop character to be lightly hoppy. To be honest, with a name like Ruby Red I was expecting an intense grapefruit focused hoppiness. Oh well, this is still quite drinkable, and even enjoyable.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 1, 2005 Reddish-amber color. Has a sweet malt chocolate and date aroma. Flavor has the malt characteristics of a porter. Some bitter, grainy hop notes are blended quite well. Clean and refreshing is the aftertaste. The body of flavor takes awhile to get used to. Has many profiles, an interesting beer. argo0 (6982), Washington DC, USA
