Aroma is almost Belgian-like - roasted malt, dark ripe fruit, a touch of alcohol, and perhaps some pepper. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, nuts, bread, roasted malt. ABV is well-hidden. Smooth, full-bodied palate. Outstanding beer. madsberg (5072), Søborg, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 28, 2009 Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Brown dense lasting head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roast and light liqourice. Flavour is full of roast, chocolate, light vanilla, light liqourice and has some a slight coffee touch. Is a bit herbal and grassy. Very smooth and balanced. Medium to full bodied. Light dry. Is roasty bitter in the end with a light alcoholbite on the lips. agillespie81 (206), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Opaque black color...thick, creamy head with nice lacing. Bold malt aroma, with subtle hints of chocolate. Heavy malt flavor up front...mouthfeel is very creamy, though somewhat crisp for the style. Back is enhanced with a lingering malt sweetness. Finish has a long, robust maltiness. A very solid performance overall...the only real downside was a slight over-carbonation. mjs (1557), Helsinki, Finland

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Bomber. Pours a jet black with a substantial caramel-colored head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt with hints of dark garden soil (really! - but in a good way). The alcohol is barely present in the nose. The flavor follows the aroma with chocolate, coffee, cigar smoke, and a touch of bourbon in the finish. The complexity of the beer makes it seem as if it’s been aged for months prior to bottling. A really enjoyable beer. Butters (1654), Virginia, USA

Dark brown pour with chestnut highlights and small tan ring of head. Milk chocolatey cocoa aroma with a light roasty quality and some nuttiness. Semi bitter chocolate flavor. Creamy medium full body. Liingering roasty bitter finish. Damn good stout. Barrios (861), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
