Commercial Description:
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Wow...very thick, very dark, heavy on the roasted malts. Heavy in the mouth. The feel-good drink of the night.

I will always give new Green Flash beers a shot because the West Coast is such a wonderful beer. This was black and smelled delicious. Roasty, smoky smells, dark chocolate, good job. The flavor is nice but not as good as the aroma. Easy to drink because the alcohol is undetectable. Overall this was certainly worth the money but I still think the West Coast IPA and barleywine are their winners. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-31-2008 03:45:56

Wow! Now THIS is a stout. This has all the flavor of an imperial stout without the strong alcohol or burn. Aroma was good. Coffee and dark chocolate with a hint of metal. Pour was a perfect deep black with a one finger tan head. Absolutely beautiful. Taste was near perfect also. Thick and chewy dark chocolate with a strong coffee backbone with just a hint of bitterness that the mouth can’t decide if it’s hops or the dark chocolate.Thick mouthfeel with the consistency of chocolate milk with just a few bubbles biting the cheeks. Why the heck did I not try this sooner?

Just got a bottle of this at Belmont Station on recommendation of one of my beer aficionado friends. Colour... pours as black as a onyx, with a frothy, dark tan head. Nose... gently coffee-like with a wisp of malt and hops and Lindt sweet dark chocolate. Palate... INCREDIBLY smooooooooth, well balanced, teetering between dark chocolate and bittersweet chocolate, Italian roast espresso, burnt English toffee and an amazingly creamy, lingering finish. A incredibly quaffable double stout, esp. at 8.8%ABV!

22oz bottle. Pours dark with a nice cream head that dissipated quickly. Smells of plum, espresso, dark chocolate & malt. Tastes of burnt coffee, toffee and bitter chocolate. Beer itself is a bit thin for double Stout. Bitterness lingers a bit too harshly for my liking.

Pours a pitch black with a lovely brown head and a sweet dark malt coffee aroma, quite pungent. Tastes bitter and roasty, acidic espresso notes cut through. Strong dark maltiness with just a hint of alco-burn in the finish, which is long-lasting and has lovely notes of chocolate. Carbonation is quite high for the style, and adds an edge to the acidic espresso notes which make this imperial stout not as smooth as I’d like. Overall, I really enjoyed the roastiness and coffee flavours in this beer, but I would have enjoyed a bit more body and a bit less carbonation. Nicely done, though!

Very dark brown body with a tall khaki head. Sweet roasty nose of chocolate, plum, and some earthiness to it. Really smooth body, finishing with a long drawn out bitter bakers chocolate flavor. I thought this was really well done overall, big ol’ roastiness to it, one of the best stouts I’ve had in a while, although bordering on Imperial.
