| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Really well rounded Imperial Stout. Luscious chocolate flavor dominates, along with oat, caramel and toffee notes. There is a slight warming in the beer, but the finish isn’t too bitter, and rather sweet, for this strong of a stout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Dark bomber. Good chocolate and secondary roast and coffee in aroma. Pours black with above average carbonation and above average mouthfeel. Roast flavour builds up over repeated glasses. A bomber is a lot to drink. sauceyhops (104), carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2009 bottle. Pours very dark brown with a tan, 1 finger head. Aroma of dirt and roasted malts with unsweetened chocolate. The mouthfeel is pretty thin and, to be honest, the flavor almost tastes like dirt. I really wasn’t very impressed with this one. 17thfloor (1496), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Bottle thanks to and shared with FunkyBrewster. Pours a very dark near black with a small creamy tan frothy head. Huge dry chocolatey coffee aroma with lots of molasses, a bit of varnish/alcohol, very strong. Delicious well balanced flavor, licorice, dark bittersweet coco powder, resiny hops, light fruit, a bit of coffee beans, hint of caramel sweetness, slightly woody campfire burntness. Amazing balance. Medium creamy body with soft larger carbonation. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Pours an extremely dark brown with a small, light brown head. Aroma of mildly roasted malts, bitter sweet chocolate, and some fudgey sweetness. Very sweet at first with chocolate, caramel, and nutty flavors. Very creamy body with a sharp, funny, kind of dirt-like pepper finish that I don’t care for. elihapa (1066), Honolulu, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2009 1/6/09 notes: on tap, Wurstkuche. Appearance is black and viscous with a tan head. Aroma of roasts, coffee, and background hops. Flavor is rich and minerally. There is black coffee, dark chocolate, and a certain soil-like character. Overall, this beer has many great attributes, notably its lush palate. However, inexplicably, it doesn’t come together nearly as well as other Impy stouts that I have grown to love (Peche Mortel, Storm King, Ten FIDY, etc).
