Commercial Description:
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

1/6/09 notes: on tap, Wurstkuche. Appearance is black and viscous with a tan head. Aroma of roasts, coffee, and background hops. Flavor is rich and minerally. There is black coffee, dark chocolate, and a certain soil-like character. Overall, this beer has many great attributes, notably its lush palate. However, inexplicably, it doesn’t come together nearly as well as other Impy stouts that I have grown to love (Peche Mortel, Storm King, Ten FIDY, etc).

Bottle. Pours deep black with beautiful brown head. Huge roasty aroma with hints of licorice, coffee & I agree with CapFlu some soy. Fuller bodied. Big roasted malt taste with some booziness, licorice & some bitterness. Good stout

(22oz bottle) Purchased at Spinnakers Spirit Merchants in James Bay, Victoria. Pours a 1 inch brown head atop an opaque black body. Nose of coffee grounds, soya sauce. Flavour of good roasted malt, strong coffee tongue and earthy finish. Very good. 8/4/8/4/16

Bottle, bought at Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours fat oil black with a fine, large, creamy, cappucino head. Sweetish aroma actually, some chocolate and vanilla. Some slight coconut notes as well. Then a lot of coffee and roasted malts. Very nice. Lowish carbonation, nice mouthfeel. Flavour is incredibly well-balanced, lots of nice dark chocolate, some coffee and some definite bitterness. This is a world-class stout. Not extreme in any way, this is just perfect in balance. Just the way I like it.

Poured from the bottle that was sitting in my basement for 6 months. Jet black pour with foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted grains and cocoa. Flavor was rich in roasted chocolate malts, espresso, cocoa, and a big dose of bitter hops. Full bodied with a smooth texture. A complex and satisfying stout.
