Aroma of roasts, coffee, and background hops. Flavor is rich and minerally. There is black coffee, dark chocolate, and a certain soil-like character. Overall, this beer has many great attributes, notably its lush palate. However, inexplicably, it doesn’t come together nearly as well as other Impy stouts that I have grown to love (Peche Mortel, Storm King, Ten FIDY, etc). JohnnyJ (1351), Carlsbad, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Bottle, bought at Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours fat oil black with a fine, large, creamy, cappucino head. Sweetish aroma actually, some chocolate and vanilla. Some slight coconut notes as well. Then a lot of coffee and roasted malts. Very nice. Lowish carbonation, nice mouthfeel. Flavour is incredibly well-balanced, lots of nice dark chocolate, some coffee and some definite bitterness. This is a world-class stout. Not extreme in any way, this is just perfect in balance. Just the way I like it. KimJohansen (7132), Copenhagen V, Denmark
