Commercial Description:
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Bottle. Dark black pour with a creamy tan head. Nice, coffee aroma. Roasted malt as well. Hint of brown sugar and molasses. Seems to have a hint of espresso. Sweet molasses, nice sense of coffee. Evenly balanced, and goes down nicely. Not overpowering at all. Good stout.

On tap at Stone. Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum. Almost zero smell. Tiny hint of malt sweetness, thats it. Beer is super round and full in the mouth. Almost turns tart as it moves down. SMOOTH. Cocoa, nuts, toffee. Disgustingly dirty glass at finish, and still had dark head lingering. Super good.

Bottle from VinensVerden, Odense. Pours black with a creamy brown head. Nose is roast, hops, vanilla & chocolate. Smooth & full bodied. Oily & slick. Taste has roasted coffee,a tiny ashy note & hops. Ends dry & bitter. Very nice! This brewery is awesome!

Black with a low brown head. Beautiful vanilla aroma with further notes of coffee and chocolate. The flavours are very balanced, primarily sweet like café latte, roasted malts and oak. Nice mouthfeel too. Very nice!

bottle, from Raleigh Whole Foods, Good aroma, bitter sweet. Baking chocolate, soy sauce, coffee, fig. oat. Blackish brown color, good head and lacing. Bitter flavor, like aroma, though not as diverse, much more of the baking chocolate comes through. Thick body, creamy viscous mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Very nice, drank easier than the 8.8 percent look and mouthfeel were perfecxt in my eye. Love the greenflash

This poured black in color with a thick light brown head that faded away. The nose was filled with aromas of bittersweet chocolate, coffee and some fig/prune scents. In the mouth it was medium to full-bodied, rich and smooth. The flavors followed the nose with a well-balanced midpalate that finished smooth yet slightly bitter. Overall it was quite nice albeit a bit simple.

Sample from November 21, 2008 beer club meeting. Super black! No see-through on this. Brown head. Gorgeous. Roasted, woody aroma. Very woody and roasted flavor. Sweet, with a nice punch! A little bitter, too. Reminds me of a roasted meat. Superb.

Bottle (22oz). Shared by blankboy with me, garthicus and GregClow. Very deep brown pour with a solid creamy light brown head. Big aroma here - solid deep roast more than matched by beefy resin bitterness - a little lactic tartness in there too, just for giggles. Another excellent stout that is simple and well done - dry, herbal bitterness which matches up well with heavy roast coffee and chocolate, enough tart cherry or other fruit character to add the impression of another dimension. Surprisingly soft mouthfeel, decent body, only mildly carbonated but who can mind, the finish takes its time and there’s a little dry acidity left on the tongue to make you want more - very good, actually seems understated, for such a brawny stout - the underlying hoppiness really makes this one.
