| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 21, 2008 22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Nose is coffee, chocolate and molasses. Creamy, full body with a sharp tang. Taste is dark chocolate and Greek coffee. Dry, slightly bitter finish rounds out a fine stout. Surprised this was not an Impy. tjthresh (1781), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2008 22 oucne bottle from BBB63. Pours pitch black with a thick brown head. Lots of lace too. Lots of deep roasted character with a nice amount of earthy hops. Huge roasted malt flavor and crazy bitterness that lingers for a bit. Full bodied with an oily mouthfeel. Dry with a long aftertaste. Really pretty damn good stuff. chronictonic (404), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 18, 2008 This was the 2nd best stout of the night after the Hoppin’ Frog. Great aromas of roasted malts, milk chocolate and some vanilla notes. Big, creamy flavors that lean towards a dry stout. Malty and super tasty. Another winner from Green Flash (hey Green Flash - I know a couple great places for a brewery here in Philadelphia!!) nearbeer (1881), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 18, 2008 650 ml. Opaque with a small creamy ring above with frosting everywhere. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, bread, light caramel. Tastes of all the same plus some lightly peppery-sweet hickory. Chocolate oatmeal cookie and light ash on the finish. Heavy body is soft, dryish and just watery enough to keep from being too sticky. mreusch (743), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2008 22oz. bottle, and a stellar bonus from my man Bert (sloth)! Pours black with a creamy dark brown head, great retention and lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, like a really rich chocolate milk, with some cocoa and vanilla as well. Flavor is like a roasty chocolate milkshake. A bit one dimensional but nice. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2008 From my experience this has got to be one of the most consistently great breweries. Pours very dark brown, close to black, with a dark orange / brown head. The aroma has a lot of milk chocolate, vanilla and ice cream malt. The body is thick, rich and creamy with very smooth gentle malt. The flavor starts with the great traits of the aroma, but it is a bit drier and has more bitterness. The finish has dry dark chocolate and coffee bitterness. The abv is nowhere to be seen. Green Flash home runs with yet another fantastic beer. illidurit (896), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Bomber poured into a snifter. Inky black with a dark tan one-finger head. Average retention and some wet spotted lacing.
Aroma is molasses sweetness with some charred malt roastiness.
Flavor is almost entirely roasty, almost burnt. A touch of sweetness comes through as dark chocolate. Dry ashy finish. Total coffee bomb beer. Not a lot of balance.
Full bodied, rather high carbonation, mostly clean finish, not much booziness. DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 14, 2008 22 ounce bomber purchased at BeVmo in Vacaville, CA. Aroma is very aggressive with plenty of roastiness and lots of cocoa. A little nuttiness is also present. Smells really nice. Virtually opaque black-mahogany body with a nice, large brown head and attractive lacing. Dope. Chewy, chalky start with cocoa powder presence. Light sweetness is in there with some coffee-like mocha flavors towards the middle. Slight ethanol late with more roasty, bitter choco-coffee goodness late. A bit chalky, but other than that, this is a kickass brew. Why isn’t this considered an imperial stout?
