Commercial Description:
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Courtesy beerlando. Black/dark brown, large, frothy, tan head. Raw grains, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, earth, dark dried fruits, some sweetness. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation. Very nice brew.

22oz bottle. Aroma is nothing special with some acidity and a twinge of a vinous character to it. Carbonation is good, nice and creamy, not sticky, could be a bit thicker though. Flavor has good sweetness with the usual suspects-chocolate and some coffee. Didn’t seemed very roasted or to be containing much bitter malt properties.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle, thanks to Bulletrain76. Nice dark color, sweet taste with hints of chocolate and coffee. Full body with a nice texture and good finish.

22oz bottle. Black with a medium, pillowy tan head that leaves lasting foam. Sweet roasted chocolate and coffee and earthy hops in the aroma. The flavor has a nice chocolately sweetness that dries up with a bitter coffee and hop flavor in the finish. Medium-full body with medium carbonation. Pretty standard imperial stout, with nothing that jumps out, but well balanced and drinkable. Smooth, with enough bitterness to keep the sweetness from getting to you. Oh, so it’s not an imperial stout? Right. Not a bad choice, but there are certainly more interesting examples available.

Although Green Flash excels in the IPA department, their double stout runs in the top third of the pack. Set this up next to 5 or 6 other top double Stouts and there’s not a whit of difference among them.

The aroma is fairly hoppy and that melds in nicely with roasted/burnt malt and dark chocolate notes. Very fresh smelling. The mouthfeel is full and thick. Flavor is bitter burnt malt and up front hops followed by chocolate and caramel with plenty of malt sweetness to balance out the bitter notes. very nice.

Thanks for sharing, iowaherkeye. Perfectly black body with an orangeish brown head. The aroma is rcih with green beans and some old caramel. There is a hint of molasses. The taste has some brown sugar and milk chocolate. A nice brew.

Pours very dark with mocha head. The aroma is roasty dark malts, just a bit of burnt malts, some nice chocolate malts and faint toffee. The taste is pretty yummy. I get roasty to burnt malts to go along with dark chocolate. Midway some caramel and toffee surfaces before the big roastiness, dark roastiness and burnt malts surge and take over. Sweet, roasty, yummy with some pine hops riding along in the background.
