Commercial Description:
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Extremely dark/black body laced with a dark tan head. Sells slightly aged with a bit of alcohol and roasted malt. Strong roasted malt flavor with a small bit of chocolate and a bittersweet finish. Taste is strong of alcohol, much more than I would prefer. Seems time would be good. Towards end of beer it’s sweeter with less roasted malt and more sweet malt; and more mild. Decent balance between roasted and sweet flavors. Overall good but nothing to write home about.

Chocolate, molasses and roasted malts in the nose on this one. Creamy tan head that never fully diminishes with a tasty looking black body (this could devolve..). Moderately sweet. Roasted malts. Some chocolate. Light dark fruits. Light alcohol presence. Coffee. Moderate bitterness. Not overly complex, but tasty. Medium bodied for a double stout (not sure why this is listed as a single stout here) with a moderate carbonation level. Nice finish with a light alcohol warmth. Recommended. The complexity could be better, but this is a solid, tasty beer.

Pours almost completely black, with a dense layer of brown foam on top that quickly dissipates, leaving behind a thin ring of large bubbles - the aroma is quite grainy/oat-like and sweet up front, but stronger whiffs reveal bitter chocolate, coffee, toffee, anise, and even some red wine-like tannins - smooth and creamy in the mouth - starts out a little bitter and almost tart, with some bakers chocolate being the dominant flavor - this is followed by some hop bitterness that is almost peppery, but somehow the flavor of the hops doesn’t become too strong; their bitterness just adds a spiciness that compliments what little alcohol shows itself - it starts to get sweet late, bring with it cream and coffee flavors, and a lot of roasted malt character - a little bit of blueberry-ish fruity character arrives in the finish as well - the finish get the slightest bit sticky, but other than that, this is a well-balanced and tasty stout.

Poured an opaque black, with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some smoke, dark fruits, and molasses. Taste was dry and roasty, with bitter dark chocolate, some smoke, vanilla beans, chestnuts, dried fruits, and light alcohol in the finish.

Thanks to Josh for sharing this one. Pours a deep black with a creamy/bubbly deep tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, touch of vanilla, toasted notes, nuts...lots of chocolate coming through in the aroma. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, nuts and some caramel.

22 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown/black that is opaque with a 1 cm tight bubbly brown head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma is mostly chocolate with some alcohol, malt, and dark fruit. Initial flavor is sweet chocolate that becomes more bitter and almost sour. Light carbonation, medium to full body, alcohol presence throughout, and moderate lacing. Overall a very solid stout worth a try as its availability continues to expand.
