Commercial Description:
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Bottle: Drank with casta, sealed the first craft brew deal. This brew is oily, heavy, soupy, full of flavor and aroma. Easy to drink but potent; a full meal. Food Pairing: El Unico from Buffalo Wings.

22 oz bobmer from Oak Tree. Green Flash has always produced some really solid beers in my eyes and this just goes on enforcing that opinion. As for an Impy Stout it’s not pushing the envelope by any means in ABV, aroma or flavor but just really well rounded overall. Poured a great looking pitch black body with three fingers of thick super tight biege head that looked more like a chocolate mousse then a the head of a beer, nice lace too!! Aroma of chocolate pudding, grassy hops, slight sugar, slight coffee grounds. Body is medium to full with a creamy fininsh. Flavor is raosty, lots of chocolate pudding, coffee grounds, very roasty, slight vanilla, slight grassy hops. This is one solid beer that is well worth seeking out.

Bottle pour at Tustin Brewing’s 13th ANniversary party, dry roasty and flavorful, this was a nicely done brew.

On tap at Stone World Gardens 07-10-09. Pours a dark brown with a nice lingering head. Solid caramel and chocolate aroma. Flavor is relatively plain and not as complex as expected. There is nothing wrong with this beer, but it simply doesn’t have a lot going on. Very clean finish and great mouthfeel, if not a bit too lively on the tongue. This is a well-made beer, but there is nothing remarkable about it. I’d definitely like to try again, though.

Bottle. Starless night colored pour with a tall, densely packed brown head. Aroma is sweet malts, chocolate, roasted notes and caramel candy. Taste is chewy malts - both sweet and roasted - along with dark chocolate, caramel, candy notes, light coffee bitterness and chocolate cake. Body is medium-full and chewy with having the silkiest smooth carbonation. Ends with more roasted malt, light coffee, dark chocolate, milky creaminess, caramel candy and more cake notes. Delicious! I’d like to try this on nitro.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Black color; medium creamy head. Roasted malt aroma, strangely metallic. Good body, strong roasted malt flavor but supported by some sweetness, still overall the flavor is dry; it has some roasted nuts too; it gets rounder and sweewer later. Quite good but not impressive.

Beautiful stout with a most charming roast complex. Dark dark dark complex that’s got tons of black wheat, chocolate, and lots of smokey earthiness and dry bitter qualities to it. Some sweetness on the swallow, but it’s malt sweetness and the malts in this one are smokey and earthy so it isn’t a too much of a wet sweetness. Great beer, nice and chickory and dark.

Has a rich roasted malt flavor packed with black coffee, chocolate and a touch of mocha. A nice light bitterness follows with a smooth dry finish. Easy to drink stout, not too complex.
