| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Aroma is toasted oats, unsweetned chocolate. A little earthy, dank. The appearance is very attractive, dark, dark brown, tan head, strong at first, and then quickly fading. The flavor is roasty up front, almost burnt, with some bitter chocolate coming in right after, folllowed by a milk cream flavor. Decent thick mouthfeel. The finish actually is competing sweetness (oddly, it is sweeter at the finish than any other time), and ashy roastyness. (I’m not sure those are actual words, but you know what I mean.) Decent and enjoyable, yet just short of true greatness. FatPhil (3483), Espoo, Finland

Lovely sweet roasty toasty aroma, some buttery creaminess and a touch of coconut. Lovely smooth full palate. Great roasty taste - no astringency - so smooth. A touch of coffee. Thanks Seppo - beer of the evening! Beardface (1036), Eugene, Oregon, USA

Pours out charcoal black with a solid tan head and some light lacing. Aroma is full of chocolate, roasted coffee and some dark fruit. Flavor is all a perfect mixture of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt, with a thick mouthfeel that leaves you craving more while filling you up at the same time. Fantastic beer. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 19, 2009 Bottled. A pitch black beer with a lazing brown head. THhe aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of chocolate and a light note of burnt malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, chocolate, and roasted malt, leading to a bitter chocolaty finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Say this is good. Immediate appeal of chocolate-raisin flavors and aroma with some vanilla. Late palate is dry with bitter british hops. Possibly still better when cool. Black pour with edge of gold highlight, medium tan foam that leaves espresso rings. How the fuck is this NOT an imperial russian stout????? Ah who cares, leave that to the "Beer Style" fags to say what’s what.
