The flavor is the same as the aroma, dark chocolate and coffee, sweet but balanced, vanilla a little caramelized sugar, delicious. Great finish, very easy drinking. I was disappointed when this was gone and wanted another. Firemoose15 (541), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 28, 2009 Bottle. Aroma is nicely oat-ey if that’s a word. Pours an oily black like I just pulled the drain plug on an engine. Flavor is quite tasty, deep roasted malts, coffee, toll house morsels. Palate is nicely filling. Overall, I believe I’ll be finishing the bottle in short order. Get Some!! beerchugger (304), Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 28, 2009 Updated: Sep 28, 2009Pours straight black with no light penetration at all. Thick 2-finger wide creamy head forms and never leaves. Smells of deep roasted coffee, and small hints of chocolate. The mouthfeel is full and lovely, a little oily. The taste is very nice...rich and roasty with some hints of raisin, licorice, and vanilla. Chocolate and coffee are most notable, however. Finishes very smooth and easy. A very nice stout! illinismitty (1799), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2009 Bottle from Roger Wilco in Palmyra, NJ. Pours a very deep brown with two finger brown head that dissipates to a ring. Very nice aroma of dark fruits, chocolate, and roasted malts. Full bodied with slight creamy texture. Flavor of dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. Average amount of residual sweetness, perhaps leaning toward sweet. Sharp hoppy finish that lingers, perhaps a bit overdone for my personal tastes. 1FastSTi (2569), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

The aroma is sweet chocolate malt, heavy oatmeal, nice black patent malts, chocolate chips. The flavor is much the same as the aroma. Sweetened condensed milk brownies with chocolate chips and lots of oatmeal. The body is mostly sweet but has an occasional dry bitterness. Rich, creamy, full body. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2009 Bottle. Poours with a black color and a medium brownish head. Aromas of raosted malts and choolate. The flavor profile is more creamy, I get some lactic notes almost lioke a milk stout in addition to roasted malts and cocoa. Finishes with some hops bitterness, very nice. Ughsmash (4047), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2009 Thanks to Blake for bringing the bomber! Poured very deep brown with a creamy, well-retained cap of tan head. The aroma picked up moderately-roasted black patent and chocolate malts with softer oatmeal and vanilla and light earth around.. sticky on the back and enjoyable. The flavor was all about the chocolates with moderately-roasted sweeter notes (think chocolate chips) backed by some darker stuff.. earth and vanilla accented.. found some burnt blackstrap molasses and black patent on the finish. Soft, rolling carbonation on the palate with an assist from the oaty character.. very smooth feel.. a touch warmer on the back, but you never feel the 8.8. Excellent brew! | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 25, 2009 pours black with thin tan head. Stains the glass when you swirl it. Big roast and chocolate nose. Flavor is Sweet roasts, subdued cocoa and coffee with slight bittering hops. Mouthfeel is viscous thick and oily. Damn fine beer. If they called this an "imperial" stout, it would get more respect.
