The aroma is lightly spicy with a touch of citrus and wheaty character. Lightly tart as well with some lingering breadiness. Pale wheat malt, not a whole lot of complexity to speak of... just a fairly simple wheaty spice, light clove and citrus. It’s pretty generic though... like many american saisons/Belgian ales. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2008 On tap at Ritual Tavern. Poured hazy peachy-golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet toasty lighter fruits and bready notes with mild peppery spice and a bit of sour presence. The flavor was rather sour overall with bready and pale malt sweetness at the core.. sour light fruits surrounded with touches of clove and cardamom.. OK. Medium-bodied and too sour on the palate with a dry, spicy finish. yespr (12184), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2008 From tap at the brewery. Pours hazy yellow with a creamy white head. Wheaty and slight estery fruity aroma. Smooth wheaty flavour and mild spiced. Mild spiced and smooth finish. Nice and refreshing and not overly spiced nor estery. thenick (746), North Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Sample @ the brewery. Pours a cloudy golden color with a lacy white head. Aroma and flavor remind me of a Belgian version of Sam Adams summer ale - with the citrus and grains of paradise coming through. I found this unspectacular, but a very satisfying warm weather beer. | 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | May 11, 2008 Honestly, this has a pretty insipid yellow colour. Lightly fruitiy/estery on the nose and the malts are really husky. Kind of creamy/underfermented taste, a big no-no in this style. Light spice and ester but it’s too little too late...I really hated this. JorisPPattyn (5174), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Draught. The sample I had at the brewery was called " SUNSET Saison". If this is a different one, a Ca. admin ought to shift this to a new entry Good, very dense white head, fed by good carbonation in golden beer. Weird, part spicy, part mashtemperature-on-the-ramp aroma; bit fruity-yeasty. Same impression: yeast-fruity, and to "hot". Maybe a tad of wheat? Bit aggressive MF, carbonation imposing. Temperature control, please. Saison is not cooked in the fermenters, at least not in Belgium. UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2008 On tap at Beachwood and finally getting around to rating this. Light and tasty. It has the farmy flavours of other saisons, but does not give them so much of the center stage.
