Feb 11, 2008 Nice strong golden coloured body with a very thin slightly-off white head. Aroma of fresh yeast, malt, coriander seed and a tiny bit of honey. Full-bodied; Very strong yeastie flavour with malt and a good dose of sugars behind. Aftertaste shows plenty of malt, yeast and curacao - a bit of honey and some light nuts also show through. Overall, a decent but slightly strong and overwhelming trip. Good to try, but I’d recommend another trip over this one. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in San Franisco (4th Ave), California on 9-February-2008.

Feb 6, 2008 hazy orange gold small fizzy head. yeast, spice, and alcohol in the aroma. medium soft body. spicy yeast flavor with bitter orange, bananas, lightly coming through. overall a little off balanced, too much alcohol and spice, kind of dulls the other flavors

Feb 2, 2008 third anniversary ale, bomber from camp pendleton beverages by the main gate / fizzy pour, slightly hazy orange-straw body with an inadequate amount of pearly head; a bit syrupy, fruity (banana), spicy, doughy, and a kicker with the alcohol; meh... although after reading the "abbey tripe" style notes, it seems to represent it well; however, give me a Tripel Karmeliet, anytime!

Feb 1, 2008 Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel" tasting. Slightly hazy orange color with small white head. Strong orange aroma with yeast, spice, slight earthiness. Orange flavor with easrth, dough, spice and yeast, too much. Creamy medium body. Overall very astringent.

Jan 4, 2008 Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". Pours a hazy amber orange with an off-white head. Aroma is yeast, funky, caramels, and toffee. Toffee and earthy flavors. Astringent alcohol and pine. Really harsh and not enjoyable.

Dec 23, 2007 Bomber of the 2005 Anniversary Trippel. Pours a cloudy amber color. Thin white head with smallish bubbles. Not a whole lot of nose to this beer. I can smell the malt and the alcohol. It smells alot like it tastes, but it tastes better than it smells, so ha ha. I love the taste of this beer. It is one of my favorite examples of a Belgian style. Palate is smooth with a little tingle and a lingering finish. Like I said this is one of my favorites. It is much more crisp than your average beer with a cork. A SoCal twist on a Belgian style.
