This was decent not spectacular. Mellow aroma of hops and yeast. Taste was spicy with yeast and a little hops on the end. Decent, but there are many better Tripels to be had out there. The color was a cloudy, light to medium amber with a very big, foamy, off-white head. The aroma was controlled with hops, both fruity and floral, with undertones of yeast and caramel malt. It’s taste was great with good sweetness underlying a sour-bitter mix. Texture was full, smooth, and slightly creamy with average carbonation and a subtle fizzyness. A great bottled beer, which is surprisingly potent. DYCSoccer17 (2200), Davis, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2007 22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget on Covell in Davis, CA. Aroma is quite sweet, sugary, with some candied banana yeasty esters present. Light clove spiciness with some milkiness, too. Mildly hazy golden-honey body present with a decently frothed white-colored head. Lively, sharp carbonation to start, which becomes a little spicy and then has some estery banana-like flavors towards the middle. This gives way to a very creamy, rich, maltiness that is somewhat milky in flavor. Some sweet notes show up in the finish with just a hint of lingering hops. This beer creates a nice warming sensation. Not overly complex, but quite enjoyable. bhensonb (4358), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2007 Double-deuce at wine frig temp. Delicious aroma of spicy hop and a light touch of ripe fruit - peach, pear... Nice hazy amber color; bits of yeast in suspension. Nice white head that lessened, but stayed, and did some fine lacing. Starts a bit spicy, then did some complex altering impressions of spice and ripe fruit. Very smooth. Nice mouthfeel. The spice carries into the finish, and finally some bitter arrives. Real ale. Real tasty. Better than a whole lot of Belgians. Funny thing - what jarspag said below - the underlying alcohol effect is something like a malt liquor - thankfully this brewer used some decent yeast and hop in abundance. Every beer I tried there seems to have the same rating. All different, all good, love drinking them, but when it comes to the rating I only give slightly above average. cthulu81 (29), Woodbridge, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 23, 2007 I do like the Green Flash bomber series, yes I do. Here we have a very competently brewed American interpretation of a Belgian trippel. Pours a lucious, hazy, clover honey hue that raises a decent frothy head; unfortunately said head deflates rather quickly, but does remain in quite submission ringed around the glass. Aromas of light pear syrup entice me to drink deep. An initial spicyness popping on the tongue melds into a richer than traditional but tasty, coating malt body that speads across the palate with hints of apple, pear, apricot and a very etherial butterscotch. Finishes with a medium dryness and light clove that begs for another sip. Deericious. My favorite of their series is still the icky, sticky IIPA though.
