apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Oct 14, 2007 Highly filtered, dainty orange body. Small frothy head. Mild aroma - some floral notes and yeast. The flavor is fruity and musty. There’s something like sweet-n-low in there too - it just doesn’t taste quite right to me. Bitter finish.
Beerlando (1563), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours a lightly hazy, golden tangerine color. A dense, spongy, cream colored head shows great retention, leaving thick, broken rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is nice, showing notes of candy sugar and pale malts in the base. White grapes, candied lemon peels, and hints of nectarine add fruity depth, while spicy, floral hops and bready, estery yeast lend a distinctly Belgian feel. Flavors show the same elements, with the addition of bitter, spicy coriander and more alcohol. Big, sugary, and hot on the tongue, the mouthfeel leaves alot to be desired, finishing somewhat sticky and alcoholic. Long story short, it looks pretty and the nose shows promise, but the rest of the brew doesn’t really deliver. Another decent but lackluster tripel. Blaketj80 (28), Oklahoma, USA Dec 18, 2008 A light bodied trippel that goes down smooth. Consumed at 50 degrees. Pours with thin white head and has a sweet flowery aroma. Tastes of candy sure and lacks a bit in complexity. Also is a bit light for an ale. Definitely not mad at it, but nothing to rave about it. elihapa (461), Hawaii, USA Dec 6, 2008 Pours gold with a white fluffy head. Good start, given this is only the second West Coast Belgian I’ve tried. Aroma certainly maintained a strong Saaz Hop presence, with firm yeast notes, soil, and some light fruit. Palate did not impart the crispness that I like in a Tripel ala Westmalle or Unibroue. Flavor was yeasty, with clove and perhaps grains of paradise. Fruit and hops kick in for the mid-palate, which was predictably the typical “West Coast treatment” of traditional styles. Not bad overall, but I’m sure Green Flash’s specialty is far from Belgian-style beers . . . AmEricanbrew (1218), Office of The President Elect,, Louisiana, USA Dec 3, 2008 Very clear amber with a viscous white head. Spiced up aromas of clove, coriander. Medium body. Unbalanced flavor is astringent spices, clove, fruits, on a thin grainy malt base. Mis-labeled, should be Green Flash Wit Beer. dkachur (1205), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Dec 1, 2008 22 ounce bottle, 2007, courtesy of ucusty. Thanks! Pours a hazy butterscotch color with a large head, medium head retention and lacing. Sweet aroma of candi sugar and fruity notes. Taste is sweet, with candi sugar, cotton candy, caramel and stone fruits leading into a bitter hop finish. Full bodied. Nice.
