doubleo (743), San Diego, California, USA Dec 23, 2007 Bomber of the 2005 Anniversary Trippel. Pours a cloudy amber color. Thin white head with smallish bubbles. Not a whole lot of nose to this beer. I can smell the malt and the alcohol. It smells alot like it tastes, but it tastes better than it smells, so ha ha. I love the taste of this beer. It is one of my favorite examples of a Belgian style. Palate is smooth with a little tingle and a lingering finish. Like I said this is one of my favorites. It is much more crisp than your average beer with a cork. A SoCal twist on a Belgian style.
mmm///beer (528), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 29, 2008 22 oz. bottle poured into trappist glass- poured a slightly cloudy copper orange, low carbonation, whisps of white on top of the liquid surface for a head, some lacing. Aroma of yeast, oranges, and coriander. Hits the mouth with a low-medium body, malt seems to get lost a little in the commotion of various spices in the middle, finish is warming and acidic. nearbeer (1224), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2008 650 ml. Orange-shiny copper with a half-inch of lasting foam that leaves nice frosting behind. Spicy resin, wood and fruit gum aroma. Tastes of oak, apple brandy, peppery orange peel, spicy yeast and paraffin wax. Finish is woody citrus, resiny bubblegum and alcohol. Light-medium body starts smooth but has flare-ups of carbonation later; has some nice warming, and is soft and dry. Fairly peppery with hops that seem to make the alcohol much more evident, but otherwise good. ewestern (81), Ohio, USA Aug 25, 2008 Light golden colored beer with a slight off white head. Decently strong aroma of citrus and hops. Floral flavor with a finish of honey and bitterness. Slight carbonation throughout. HopBackDoc (332), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 Poured into a tulip glass a deep golden color with big foamy head, nice lacing. Aroma is yeast and spices. Flavor is pale malts up front and quickly followed by a dose of bittering hops and spices, giving it quite a bite. Dry finish. A bit over the top in bitterness for this style, it may do well with a bit of aging. RunDWP (152), San Jose, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Sorry, this just didn’t work for me. Poured a murky orange. Hard to detect much aroma. Flavor was malty, with overpowering sour apricot notes and alcohol. Love the Green Flash West Coast IPA, but will pass on this. My girlfriend liked it, but she’ll have to rate it herself.
