| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours a beautiful amber with a one to two-finger rocky off-white head that has amazing retention and leaves some insane lacing. Aroma of mango, floral hops, piney hops. Taste is heavy on the bittering hops: lots of Brazil nut, Kola nut, and red grapefruit. I like the use of all 3 C’s in the hop universe but feel that this is unbalanced and comes off with soapy and nutty flavors rather than floral and citrus notes. Metallic finish. Obviously the west coast is where the best IPAs are born but this is not one of them. Pinball (3010), Allerød, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 7, 2009 cloudy orange, thick smooth yelow head.
sweet aroma of malts, hops, the hops are a little sweet too, and a little flowery. still also some pine and some grapefruit.
flavor is quite bitter hops, grapefruit, pine, dryness. also a little malty sweetness, but not much, quite a hoppy fellow. personally i’d prefer it a little sweeter. this is a dry, bitter IPA. thewombat (112), Brooklyn, New York, USA

Flavor is malt and citrus with a strong bitter hop aftertaste. Very enjoyable. DeadGirl (243), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 6, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009On tap at Rattle ’N’ Hum (Midtown, NYC): Pours a bright, penny copper and gives off notes of berries, peaches, jasmine and grapefruit. Tarte/sour tastes hit the palatte but what immediately follows is a sweet electic sensation of berries, peaches, jasmine, and grapefruit. Delicious and perfect for a hot, summer day. #049 on 06072009, DG. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Bottle, picked up at some bottle shop out in CO. Tangerine pour, firm soapy head. Dry musky citrus aroma, salt and cinnamon. Dried orange peal hop flavor with a nice pinch of salt. Perfectly attenuated (to my way of thinking) for an IPA: just the faintest clean malt presence, but then no sticky caramel to wade through, and a bone dry finish with the hops doing all the talking. Full satisfying hop flavor without resorting to palate abuse. Alcohol hidden. This is just superbly crafted beer.
My only complaint is that the nose isn’t as bright as I wish, and that is more my problem than the brewers: need to get a fresher example of this—the rating can only go up from here.
