Pours with 2 finger head, super, pleasant hoppy aroma. Delicious, with a perfect amount of hops, without being over-whelming. A keeper. ben4321 (1041), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma: Nice earthy/grassy/floral/citrus hop nose,
Appearance: Hazy orange color, nice fingerish amount of head
Flavor: Similar to the nose, a nice hop bitterness that you would expect for the style
Palate: Nice mouthfeel, medium body, good feel to this one
Overall Impression:
This is a really solid and good example of this style. Exactly what you are looking for from an IPA as a hop head. Sure, its not IIPA as far as the hops go, but for a 7.3% beer the hops are definitely there. beerferver (2), Maryland, USA does not count | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 12, 2009 Bright, strong hoppy nose - this beer never tries to fool you. It’s for hop heads, period. In that vein, it’s the best American-made hoppy IPA out there. Complex hop characteristics from start to finish. A biting tang forenote, to a grassy bitterness mid-palate, to a crisp finish at the back of the throat, all with minimal malt sweetness to mask the hop complexity. If you don’t like hops, try something else. This brew is for those who want hops and more hops. Excellent on a hot day, or whenever you’re ready to celebrate the glory of hoppiness! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2009 Not bad aroma and taste but exceedingly grassy bitterness tends to dominate, and I would almost have liked more fruity citrus top-notes along with all this grapefruit rind. Nice funky-piney notes and decent depth of pale mat richness. Gorgeous deep-goldy unfiltered look with fat sloppy foam. Slacks (487), Bolton, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Bottle: Pours copper, started with a good head but it was quick to leave the party. There must be a terrific variety of hops in here because it’s easy to pull grapefruit, pine needles, and Cascades in front of caramelized sugar in the aroma. Finally, a sip. Wow, here she is. A hop bomb hits the back of the tongue, tons of grapefruit surrounded in black pepper. A distinct biscuity flavour chases it and it all settles a little with those sugary malts. Don’t expect the hops to disappear, though - that black pepper rests on either side of your tongue while the centre burns with hoppy bitterness until the next sip. As expected a great IPA, if not just a little lacking in a properly balancing sweetness. btgpdx (9), USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Nice pine and citrus aroma, great balance of hops and malt. Exactly what I want in an everyday IPA. NosirIwont (1184), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange/copper with a fluffy off-white head. Sweetish pine hop aroma with malts in the background. Bitter liquorice hop flavour with a malty sweetness. Finish is more bitter liquorice, lingering. Pine as well. A bit of apple in the too. A nice beer. 06-06-09. ajm (949), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Tap at Yard House Scottsdale. I was wavering between ratings, but I saw I could be the 4th 4 in a row and went for it. The definition of a go-to IPA in these parts because it seems to be everywhere and is really f-ing solid. Nice nose of floral hops and green citrus; flavor is the same and finishes on the sharp side (though not as sharp as AleSmith’s IPA). My complaint is Shyam’s, and that complaint is that this tastes like a lot of other IPAs. Or maybe it just does the style well. Either way, above-average beer.
