Now that I look, 95 IBUs makes perfect sense. Great nose that pulls out a kind of unique citrus sweetness that I am not sure how to describe, but feels unique. Could it be mango? In any case, citrus with a different kind of sweetness. Nice beer, but I have a hard time rating IPAs; there are too many good IPAs out there. I think personally I prefer this over Nugget Nectar, but Two Hearted or Celebration will probably stay on stand-by. Good beer though. mspindler (323), Alta Loma, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a creamy head. lots of tiny yeasties hanging in suspension, kind of eerie looking. Aroma is all fresh piny and citrus hops. Same with the flavor, it’s really a hop showcase. A slight malt background but not much. This bottle is particularly yeasty and it stands out. I’ve had this before and they’re not all like that. Medium body, medium carbonation. nickd717 (1374), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Awesome IPA, similar to Green Flash Imperial IPA except for the hop variety (C-hops rather than Amarillo/Nugget I believe). While Nugget is great, in both hops and the reefer, the C’s are pretty legit too. This is an awesome one, with a piney and citrusy hop aroma and a really citrusy bitter flavor with a sweet malt backbone. Pretty standard mouthfeel for the style. Citrusy and floral hop aroma and I am definitely smelling the Cascade. Some malt in the nose as well. Crisp and citrusy hop flavor up front, then some malt balance before a bitter hop finish. Solid. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 31, 2009 On tap at the Yardhouse in Long Beach. Aroma is hop forward. There is no mistaking that it is an IPA. Color is an amber color that is clear with a nice creamy beige head. Nice lace all the way down the glass. Flavor is hop assertive with a clean malt profile of biscuits and toast. Clean finish and easy drinking. A very nice IPA. chillyice (13), Rio Nido, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 30, 2009 This is what all west coast IPA’s should be. Intensly hoppy but still balanced with the strength and flavour of citrus to create a sublime IPA. Tried on draught at Green Flash brewery in San Marcos and savoured in bottles bought back to the uk in suitcases.
