Commercial Description:
This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma.

I’m pretty shocked. I fully expected to really like this brew but was underwhelmed. It’s very bitter and astringent but not at all balanced. Not a top tier IPA by any stretch.

[1620-20080822] 12floz bottle. Floral hops and pine resin aroma. Murky, medium orange brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head and lots of floaties. Hoppy resin pine flavour has a bitter bite with a mild butter finish. Medium-full body is bitter. Very bitter but a nicely made brew.

Amber with a small white head. Nose is strong hop scents with grapefruit, lemon, grass. The flavor is a little weaker with citrus and caramel in the flavor, but there’s a nice wood that comes through. A little too sticky and oppressively coating.

a murky reddish copper under a medium sized, frothy, off-white head. a mix of floral and citrus aroma. strong and pungent hops with a sweet caramel, bready malt aroma. strong bitter hops dominate the flavor before a sweet bready malt shows itself mid-palate ending with a dry bitter fruity finish. light-medium bodied.

Thanks to Ross for this one. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this one and I’ve finally got my hands on it. w00t! Anyway, pours a rich amber color with medium sized fizzy head that fades quickly and leaves nice lacing patterns in my glass. Aroma is of pungent pine and grapefruit, it’s an all out assault with this stuff. Taste is just as intense as the aroma with fresh cut pine, grapefruit, orange and caramel malt tickle the tongue. This is a very resinous and fruity beer. Carbonation is moderate and this beer finishes clean and sticky. A very solid IPA and somewhat reminiscent of Tyranena’s IPA. For me, this is a nice change of pace when I get sick of Two Hearted’s hop profile.

2008-08-22. Hazy orange amber body, modest creamy beige, some floaties. (3+) Aroma is resiny and light alcohol, green leafy notes. Flavour is quite bitter, fairly astringent, muted resin and caramel malt. Smooth average plus palate. Flavour is a bit more rough than expected. Has been in the fridge for a while, may have lost some of the citrus notes over time.

Had this on tap for the first time. Big fluffy head, huge citrus and toffee aromas, tangy citrus hop flavor with a great malt backbone. Really holds its own against it’s older brother, Green Flash Imperial IPA.

ok i had this beer on tap at capones in norristown pa the food was very good for pub food. now to this highly hopped up ipa that was citrus tasting with a floral aroma it poured with a almost copper color with a nice minimal head, that disaperred quickly but left just a skim coat of foam i found this a very bitter, full body, ipa with soft carbonation, and along bitter finish. it went great with the tuna steak.
