Medium body and medium carbonation. Bitter hops flavor with some redeeming grapefruit qualities. Dry clean finish that hangs just long enough. hoppopotamus (187), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2008 An amber-copper hazy beer with lots of large particulate (yeast) floating around, which lost it points on appearance. Large off-white head that sticks around and leaves lace. The aroma is pure hop, mostly fruity (grape, perhaps lychee) but also floral and citrus. Well-rounded hop profile. The flavor is more hops (no surprise), a hint of caramel maltiness, and a bitter finish. If the yeast would settle out, this would be near the top of my list for IPAs. Kind of bridges the gap between IPA and imperial IPA. Great beer. raiderfost (158), virginia beach, Virginia, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2008 On tap at Radio Maria in downtown Champaign. Served in a tulip glass. Amber colored pour with a small white head. Strong floral and pine hop aroma. Flavor was similar. Intense grapefruit and piney hops. Not balanced by any means - just a hint of caramel malts lurking underneath the intense hop bitterness. Dry finish, medium mouthfeel. Hop resins linger on the palate. Top notch if you’re looking for a very bitter but somehow still very drinkable IPA.
