highlandlad (1200), Sydney, Australia Sep 12, 2008 Another decent session lager from this promising Dunedin brewer. Working out of the same city as Emersons is a bit like being Manchester City FC because Emersons set the standard in NZ. However, the two lagers I’ve had from Green Man suggest they’re rising to the challenge. This pilsener was deeper gold than the lager but with inferior head retention. A much bigger aroma than the lager but disappointingly it’s not a million miles away from a hundred standard Australasian macro lagers. Grainy with plenty of malty sweetness and some lemon tartness. Like the lager, it tastes significantly better than it smells. It’s sweet, malty and very clean. Gives no hint of the strength. Some tasty juicy fruit and a dry finish with minimal bitterness. I could imagine sticking away a lot of these. (500ml bottle from Camperdown Cellars. BB Nov 08) TheGrandMaster (1488), Auckland, New Zealand Jun 9, 2008 Bottle, pours a crystal clear gold with a pure white foamy head - looks inviting. Sweet caramal malt aroma - a little fruity as well. Though the mouthfeel is nicely balanced, I find the malty flavour over-sweet and it lacks the hops or dryness I would expect of a Pilsner. Also a bit sudsy in the finish. Not the worst though. KimJohansen (4285), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 1, 2008 Clear golden with medium white head. Sweet fruity aroma with caramel notes. Sweet flavor with notes of fruits, caramel and malt. Ungstrup (11354), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 1, 2008 Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of straw, and so is the flavor though added a slight note of alcoohol, leading to a lightly bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for bringing this home from NZ. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 28, 2008 Bottle.
