Cask at the Half Moon, Oxford. This was the only option while England was taking it to Sweden in the World Cup. Seems like this is a bitter made to resemble a belgian brew, as it’s got a bit of spicy, herbal hop flavor to it along with a good deal of yeast presence. There’s something incredibly sour in it, though, that made it nearly undrinkable for me. Glad I held back for only a half-pint.

A Sim Rate (Cask at The Gatehouse) Smells like algae, sweet and creamy. Tastes like peanuts. Redcurrant aftertaste. Quite sweet for an ale.

Cask, Handpump @ .... .Amber colour with a small off-white head. Has a malty aroma with some fruitiness. Some hints of hops in the aroma aswell. Malty fruity flavor. Leaving you with a long hoppy finish.

Cask: Copper coloured, small lacing white head; sweet-malty and light bitter nose; bitter-sweet flavour, mild, soft MF; mild, delicate herbal hoppy finish. A bit thin for a beer of 4,9% ABV..........

Handpump @ the legendary George Inn, Southwark.
Sparkling copper body with a very short-lived white head that managed a little legs. Biscuity sweet nose. In the mouth it’s very similar with toffee, salted nuts and toasted malt predominant over a light earthy hop note that sits in the very recess of the mouth. Dries out in the back end with a very gentle bitter apex before all malt in the swallow and a light residual sweetness that lingers long afterwards. Completely still, light bodied but relatively smooth, it could get quite heavy after a few pints so I’d say one was enough. Not bad at all.

Tried at the Eagle pub at Cambridge. Pale tawny body, mainly malt in the aroma, caramel in the taste and a little watery.

Richly bodied reddish bitter. Like treacle on top of a Ridleys. Fruity hoppiness (strawberry?)and yeasty nose balanced with a mildly bitter finish. Creamy texture. A refreshing and highly drinkable pint.
