Cask, The Lord Keeper of the Great Seal, Oadby. Amber brown with a cream head. Aromas are toffee malts and citrus with some spices. Flavours are toffee and caramel malts with pear. Quite smooth with hints of chocolate and a decent fruitiness. Lightly bitter on the finish. Clean and refreshing.

Thin coarse offwhite head. Amber body. Earthy wooden lemony aroma. Dry fruity lemony tea and wood taste with earthy malty notes. Soft, smooth, clean mouthfeel. Some sweetness. Dry roasty earthy lemony aftertaste lingers. Nice session beer. (0.5pt cask at Anglesea Arms.)

Cask at Dickens Tavern in London, near Paddington Station. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma has lots of toffee malts. Malt backbone of toffee, caramel, and grains that is balanced by a mild herbal bitterness. A tad sweeter and fruitier than many of the other bitters I sampled. Subtle tea flavors on the finish. Not too shabby.

[661-20070923] Cask @ Prince of Wales (Didcot, OX). Citrus aroma background has a bit of fruity caramel, paprika, and malty grains. Clear, amber brown body with a small long-lasting foamy off-white head. Spicy citrus hops flavour hints at paprika. Medium body thoroughly coats the mouth. Interesting and almost repeatable but could be a little cloying.

Cask at a Wetherspoons at Heathrow. Golden with a thin white head. Aroma is quite spicy with nice earthy hops and a soft grainy Maris Otter malt. Flavour is well-balanced with light fruitiness behind the earthy/spicy hops. A lightly spicy earthy bitterness. Nice pint.
