Drank this from a pint glass on 12/30/07 at The Shaespeare Head Pubin London. A nice amber color with a 1 finer tan head. Hops, hay, grass to the nose. Toasted malt, grass and bitters at first taste. Finishes with more of the same. A nice hand pulled palate. The name of this beer lead me to believe it would be more like a trappist...the whole abbot thing, ya know? It’s just a basic bitter.

Bottle.Strange aroma upon opening.Clear bottle and slightly bitter. Nothing really going for it. Many years ago this was one of my favourite beers. Why?

500ml Bottle - Copper coloured. Dry malty aroma which is a bit sterile but there is a fruity hint. Fruity and malty taste with some light vanilla notes and raisins.

Decent English pub ale in a can, found cheaply here in the States. Very smooth with a decent component of bitter.

0.5L bottle, long lasting smallish head, Clear light brown colour bordering on the copper. Strong aroma of hops, taste is dominated by strong herbal hoppy bitterness with sweet fruits and light metalic notes. Medium bodied, pleasant long sour aroma.

An aroma which isn’t too flowery but with a hint of bitterness and caramel leads into the surprisingly bitter flavor. Well-balanced - but nothing extra ordinary.
