It had a smell and taste of malt, caramell, some grassy hops and something sweet. The mouthfeel was a bit stingy, specially at the back of my mouth. It also had an alcohlic finish, not to strong though. I’m not sure what it is but I didn’t really enjoy this beer that much. halfonit (467), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Clear dark golden color. Aroma is mostly of malts, with some caramel and slight hops in the undertones. Taste has sweeter malts with some hops. This has that typical hard watered english ale flavor. Leaves a little bit of a bite in the end. Nothing too impressive. chrisv10 (366), Denmark

Flavor matches with a subtle hop finish. Palate is creamy. Smooth English ale, but nothing I’d buy again. sound67 (212), Offenbach, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2009 50cl clear glass bottle, as shown. Small white head, deep clear amber colour. Aroma of roasted malts, hops and citrus fruit, taste is oak, malts, citrus with a strong hoppy note - with medium, lasting bitter finish. Oily texture, good mouthfeel, medium carbonation. The remark made before that there is a "wine-like" quality too it is correct. Heavier, more characterful than the same company’s IPA - a very good premium bitter that nonetheless drinks easily and would make a good session beer. Amber with white lasting head. Inviting looks.
Slightly hoppy on the nose with a little bitterness, but then comes some sweetness, and a little malty charamel.
Taste is mostly the charamel thing.
Oh, and where is the carbonation? Almost flat, a little too sweet, and somewhat watery. Nothing really unpleasant, and it goes down very easily. I guess if you by session beer think of something that does not make you too dizzy or tastes too much of beer, this could be a session beer.
I am afraid though, that for me the session would be quite short before I search for something else.
Compared to a danish pilsner? Although quite OK, this might lack the freshness that could make me drink more than one.

Thick, smooth mouthfeel. Heady, almost vinous aroma. The flavour is a rich mix of oak, toffee and fruit. Unfortunately the finish is a little sweet and syrup-y, which contrasts unpleasantly with the metallic bitterness of pasteurisation.
