| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2006 (Bottled) Clear dark copper/amber color with a smallish, foamy and disappearing head. Crisp, very lemony hops in the aroma, with quite a bit of yeast and hints of toffee. Lemony, crisp and very evident hops in the flavor, but not that much maltiness to balance it. Even reminds me of the Finnish-style mead (sima). Light to medium-bodied, foamy-carbonated palate. A quite nice and crisp, lemony summer ale. Doesn’t have the usual stuffiness of English ales. ...but would it really last until Feb 07 (BBE) in a clear bottle? onystrom (791), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark

Now, for the record, I have many friends who L-O-V-E this ale and they would all recommend it incessently. I have tried this ale both from the can and from hand-pulled cask and I fail to find any enjoyment from it. As I say, I tried. While Abbot has a pleasant aroma, the taste and aftertaste remind me of some sort of sharp-tasting medicine. The head is virtually non-existant (I know you CAMRA people will shake your head at me here!) and it just isn’t a brew that I would order again. I’ve tried it, but just didn’t take to it. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 2, 2006 Can (500ml). Thanks to my friend Dave B for this one. Poured clear oily light copper with a sizeable creamy-rocky beige head. Funky UK hops aroma, dry light roast caramel malt aroma some sweet and floral character. Taste is softly grainy, dry, faint roasty caramel malt, much less hop character - pleasant, very drinkable. Dry, slightly astringent mouthfeel, average body and linger - look forward to having the cask version. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

Had good appearance and was somewhat spicy at first. Tapred off to somewhat watery at mid glass., but had a good, fairly long finish. All their cans come with a peice of plastic inside, apparently to help retain carbonation (?). Caught me off guard. An interesting beer to try. harrisoni (6802), Ashford, Kent, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 18, 2006 500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Amber colour with thin white head. Nice hop and some goodish malt on the aroma. Toffee and some coffee. Just not as good as on draught. Boy that pasteurisation/filtration, it just strips all the flavour out and leaves a metallic feel in the mouth
